The beaches are very nice and clean. Plenty of room if you didn’t want a lounger, showers and changing booths. The old town and the Venetian port area has a nice vibe with lots of eateries, bars and many shops. Boat trips a few museums and lots of shady squares to take a rest. We stayed in Old Town which is an older part of Chania but is within walking distance of of the port, shopping and restaurants. We took private tours to the White Mountains and to Sougia (the most southern part of Crete), which I recommend, to see ancient Greek ruins and Roman tombs. Also we took a walking tour around Old Town to become familiar with the surrounding local favorites. We visited a local farmer's market for cheese, fruit and olives. When we weren't swimming or sunbathing, we spent most of our time in Chania Old Town and the Venetian Port. It does get very busy, but there are lots of gift shops and tavernas to explore. Dont miss the Domenico ice cream shop - amazing flavours, and very entertaining to watch how it's made. Further into the city, you'll find a broader range of shops and small cafes offering tempting Cretan snacks and pastries. Surprisingly, the central bus station has a great cafe with nice take-away cakes and snacks.Guest review bySteven

They provided us with a homemade Raki, a traditional drink of crete. They also provided us with some oranges and they always made sure to clean our room, empty our bins and top up our water. There was a kettle, cups and wine glasses as well as a working fridge. It was located in the old town of Chania, so we were close to all the tourist attractions. The bathroom and shower was nice.
