The perfect place for peaceful vacation. The city itself is nice but not something extraordinary, but you get the best food in Greece alongside the best beaches in the World! Try Psarropoula, Kakkos and all other beaches in Ferma area. Lerapetra is not one of the main tourist destinations on Crete but well worth a visit. There are more than enough restaurants and bars along the seafront, with a nice compact centre of town. Only thing to note is that with the closure of Chrissi Island, there are effectively no tourist trips from Lerapetra. Ierapetra -as a city- is not very beatiful, although the beach/port route is quite good. However, it is the perfect place for visiting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including "Kakkos", "Psaropoula", "Agia Fotia", "Achlia", "Psari Forada" and others - since it is located in front of the Libyan Sea. We stayed in Ierapetra for just 24 hours.
We stayed in Ierapetra for just 24 hours. We found that city was much developed, in a good meaning. Dedicated streets for pedestrians and bikes, updated sea walk area. There is a large fridge with the freezer, so you can stock up ingredients if you like home cooking. AC is available in every room. There is also excellent WiFi, table tennis and swings. Plenty of secure car parking. Our host was superb and helpful during our stay. Nearby beaches (10+ minutes drive) are excellent and were never crowded. It was quiet even though we were literally right near the sea and plenty of bars and restaurants. All the staff were there to help as soon as there were any problems.
