Beautiful city center, great places to eat, drink and have fun! The cost at Navarinou str is very nice and close to the city center! There's a wonderful view and sunset at Verga, a beautiful bar called Kastraki, you should definitely visit! We stayed in Kalamata only for two nights (Sunday and Monday) so there was not a lot of action, but there were plenty of restaurants, bars, and people enjoying the nice weather. Everyone was very friendly and the town was clean and felt safe to walk around at night. We really liked it. Unfortunately we did not visit any cultural or historic places. We spent the day at Agios Beach (30 minutes away), which is a sandy long beach, with plenty of activities for kids and nice umbrellas and lounge chairs to rest, and a nice simple restaurant by the water.Guest review byMarielaUnited States - 10.0

Kalamata is an absolutely beautiful city that truly offers the best of both worlds — stunning beaches and a vibrant city atmosphere. One of the highlights for me was the beachfront restaurants that offer sun loungers, allowing you to enjoy delicious food and drinks right by the sea. It's the perfect spot to relax and take in the view. The old town is a gem — full of character, with traditional architecture and a genuine sense of authentic Greece. It hasn’t lost its local charm, which makes strolling through its streets feel like stepping back in time. Kalamata strikes a wonderful balance between relaxation and culture. The location was perfect: just far enough from downtown to be a little quieter, also easy free and safe parking in the surrounding streets (but you can reserve a parking spot in the hotel garage if you're more comfortable). And downtown was only 5-10 min walk away, so we could easily get back and forth. The apartment was very comfortable and clean, the bakery around the corner was so nice for easy coffee/breakfast, a handy supermarket also just 3 min walk.
