    Pretty place, but be aware you can't swim in the lake.

    Pretty place, but be aware you can't swim in the lake. Things to do - Boat trip around the lake and the caves are lovely and so was walking around the town and seeing the old buildings. The drive around the lake was wonderful and the trees formed a canopy so also very cool. You can also walk the whole route but might take a couple of hours and no designated pavement. We climbed the mountain path behind the monastery, but be warned it is steep and hard work in places, but the views are amazing. However, if you want the same views, drive up the road to the hospital and keep going as when I arrived after my 45 minute climb I can upon the road and it will take you to the peak (I think). Parts of the town are quite hilly and walking shoes or trainers needed in these parts, but you can probably avoid these areas if you wanted to.

    Kastoria on the lake is very scenic.

    Kastoria on the lake is very scenic. If you want to see a different view of Greeece away from the intensity of Athens I would recommend visiting Kastoria. We also took the opportunity to visit Korce, Albania which we thoroughly enjoyed.

    I’m Greek who was born in Kastoria. It’s always monumental visiting my city. I have great connections and always extend my relationships.. The food is always amazing..great views and a very picturesque atmosphere.

    It has been some 6-7 years from my last visit at kastoria...

    It has been some 6-7 years from my last visit at kastoria where I visited the area around the city (nymphaion, prespes etc) but i neglected the city per se this time i focused there and i discovered little gems such as the byzantine museum, the folklore museum aprt from the obvious (visiting the wonderful renovated local architecture mansions, the byzantine churches such as mavriotissa or koumpelidiki) and the captivating old Doltso quarter) still in awe

    The Byzantine churches are a must see - however they are locked and do not open regularly - apparently the way to visit them is to go to the Byzantine museum and request that someone opens them for you.

    Walking around the lake is a must and going to the Palia...

    Walking around the lake is a must and going to the Palia Poli restaurant as well - it's in the old town near the lake and there wasn't anything we ordered that we didn't love. There are parking spaces near the lake and I would love to visit again.

    Good location for visiting Kastoria on foot, walkable to all places of interest in the city. The hotel is a bit old-fashioned but that makes it somewhat atmospheric. Our room was perfectly comfortable, included a fridge and a balcony. Breakfast included in price. There are just one or two parking places in front and they are on an inclined street, so parking there was a bit nervous. Anyway, we managed to get one and it was free of charge - a bonus in such central location.

    The hotel is very nice and is close to Kastoria center and lake. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we received a lot of good recommendations for places to visit and where to eat. The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed. Will gladly stay here again when we will visit Kastoria next time.

    Could not fault this lovely little Hotel. The host was warm and friendly, even offering to shop for us. We were upgraded to a better room, with a large balcony directly overlooking the lake. The room was more of an apartment with all the facilities you could need. You won’t regret staying here.
