Beautiful and lively, lots of restaurants and gorgeous boats. We took the car so we could visit the island, well worth it. Monastery Beach was delightful until mid afternoon when it got crowded. We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near Athens. Aegina is big and the closest to Athens so quite crowded on weekends where Athenians escape from the heat. Hydra is quite beautiful but a bit expensive, no sandy beaches near center and no transport on island except of horses and donkeys (it is charming, though, worth to visit for one day). So the last choice was Poros, with moderate prices, nice beaches, even free municipal bus, and 5 minutes boat ride to the mainland village of Galatas, which also has great restaurants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.Guest review byKA111ERGeorgia - 10.0

Beautiful easy going and laid back island, the atmosphere in town is magical (especially sunsets) and the natural beaches are amazing. Poros is one of the most underrated islands, it has a small village feel to it with lots of family run restaurants and hotels. Our favorite restaurant was the White Cat, superb food and amazing service. Poros is family friendly with safe beaches; our favorite being monastery beach. Our spacious apartment was well equipped (including fly screens on the windows) and had a nice balcony with sea view. The breakfast was very good (including typical greek products as well as freshly squeezed orange juice). The owner, Alex, was extremely helpful and even brought us a book to the ferry on the day of our departure that we had forgotten at the hotel. In brief, we can only highly recommend this place. P.S. The room was very spacious, with many facilities, clean and great value for money . The biggest beach of the island is just a few steps away and has free umbrellas as well if you arrive early or late in the afternoon. The view was great even from the ground floor as the hotel is a bit uphill. Not far from the port and the main town, especially if you have your own vehicle.
