What an amazing place for relaxing and forgetting the world exists, would reccommend this hidden gem to everyone, location is amazing, a 7 minute walk to the most beautiful lake, a taverna with fabulous cuisine right on the doorstep. We will be back in September.

Excellent host, very proactive and helpful. Very comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room with a balcony. Nice hot shower. Good location. The host family are so nice. They gave me a lift to the next town as there were no buses that day from Zaros. Very kind

This is a beautiful traditional home in Zaros, offering three apartments. Every apartment is clean and extremely comfortable with everything you need inside. The bottom apartments are great for jumping straight into the pool and the top apartments are has incredible views. The village of Zaros has everything you need, tavernas, coffee shops, little traditional bars, pharmacy, bakery, butcher and gift shops. You are close to hike the Rouvas Gorge and visit Lake Zaros. The nearest stunning beaches are approximately 40min away. The owner Vivi and her sister Cristina make you feel welcome straight away. Their Taverna Vegera, is great, serving home cooked traditional delicious food. we liked everything; comfortable beds, great stay;very quiet location but still close enough to heaches and Knossos and Heraklion ( car an absolute must). we arrived very late at the property and we were met by a lovely host who made us feel very welcome! even though it was the middle of the night. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house; it’s very quiet and well equipped. everything you need for a relaxing stay. if you love being away from the crowd this is an absolute treat!

    The village is peaceful, full of charm, and perfectly located for exploring Crete. It has everything you need within walking distance — a grocery store, bakery, crepe shop, and several places to eat. The people here are incredibly welcoming, and we experienced true Greek hospitality and kindness. It’s a place with character, where you can relax and enjoy local life, yet still be within easy driving distance of all the island’s main attractions.

    I loved the serenity. It was a perfect escape from the City. A night without the usual mod cons is quite OK. The trout from the local restaurants was perfect for dinner. I would suggest avoiding the heat of Summer.

    Very peaceful location. Authentic unspoilt village. It was like stepping back in time. No touristy stuff at all..not even a souvenir shop as far as I could see.Surroundings are incredible. I was a solo traveller and felt very much at home there.. It'd a big draw for walkers..I just wanted to chill and enjoy the views .

    Zaros is a village in the mountains ,it has the famouse lake of Zaros and the spring and the famous water of Zaros. It has traditional food and helpful lokal people. You can visit in the summer as well in the winter.

    This came a bit randomly in our trip and we’re glad it did. We loved Zaros for both the warmth of its people and the beauty of its decor. Our hike in Rouvas was great and every encounter was like it was family members. One of the highlights of our trip to Creta. If you like getting closer to people and their culture it’s a must on your list. If you’re into more attractions or shopping this one is not for you.

    A very nice area of olive groves and brush from 500 m up where you can go hiking right from the hotel (Agios Ethimnios, Rouvas Gorge) or from Lake Votomos. You can also visit monasteries (in particular Vrontisi monastery). Plenty of good and very affordable tavernas around.

    This family-run hotel is an absolute gem. We had economy rooms so no frills but they were big and had everything we needed. The shared hotel facilities were outstanding - beautiful grounds, views, pool, bar etc. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with loads of choice. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant/ trout farm served up great food at very reasonable prices.

    Very friendly staff at this family owned/operated hotel. Clean, spacious room and a quiet location one block from the "high street" where you find the tavernas and supermarket. As on a bicycle tour I left to early to try the breakfast. (When I arrived with my precious bike, the staff immediately, and without me asking, offered me safe storage of the bike - very appreciated)

    The barbecue area and the patio of the house gives you privacy and freedom. Zaros is not run down by tourists so you have a possibility to see a little bit of the everyday life. The gorge nearby is also worth visiting apart from wonderful southern beaches which are not colonised by travel agencies.

    This was one of the best hotel experiences of our lives. I cannot recommend staying here enough. It was a magical place, and we felt so welcome! So beautiful, and the breakfast far exceeded our expectations. The animals were lovely, and everything was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!
