Loved Lokrum Island.
Loved Lokrum Island. Watching the sunset from Lapad was so peaceful. The cable car going up to Mount Srd wasn’t really worth it as it was very quick and packed with people so we couldn’t see much on the way up but was still worth seeing the views from the top - some people choose to take Uber to the top instead of cable car which is cheaper. Old town was really good to experience - very clean with lots of places to eat. A must try is Holy Burek and gelato from Peppino’s, Aroma and Mostro. Dinner at Gradska Kavana Arsenal was lovely. We enjoyed the Old Town.
We enjoyed the Old Town. The Dubrovnik pass for some of the museums and the local buses made things easier for us. Plenty of restaurants and bars in and around the Old Town. Walking the city wall was a challenge (but enjoyable and great views). But time your visit to the Old Town. It can be incredibly busy in the morning with coach tour groups, groups off the cruise ships plus fans of 'Game of Thrones'. We were warned about lots of steps in Dubrovnik. Be mindful that there are more steps than you can imagine!! Once our three day Dubrovnik pass had expired we caught a local bus for a day at the lovely harbour village of Cavtat. The next day a boat to the UNESCO protected island of Lokrum. Very calm after the crowds of the Old Town. An island of lush growth. Dubrovnik is very popular for good reasons, but also quite expensive. Best: relax on Lokrum island. Worst: you HAVE to do the city walls in one go - if you exit, you must pay €40 again. Wonderful old town, one of the best in the world. Beautiful setting with stunning scenery. Cable car to the top of the mountain gave wonderful views. Bus travel is horrific, especially when leaving the old town. Huge numbers of people trying to get on each bus.
