Initially we thought it was a bit far from Split, but then realised it has a lot to offer (good beaches, restaurants, cafes) and transport into Split is one bus ride. For us it was all we needed - swimming every day in sea and hotel pool, good lunches and dinners in local restaurants, a trip to Split and a trip to the island of Brac for variety. Podstrana is probably over crowded in high summer, but it was pretty empty in May when people prefer to stay in Split. We found it a perfect balance - 30 minutes to Dioclesian's Palace by bus, with a return costing €2.50 (with the Promet Split App), yet with properties right by the beach. The place is quiet in May (and I assume totally closed in winter), which is good, but for example we had trouble finding anything to eat on Sunday afternoon, with shops closed. People are really friendly and it seems the whole of Dalamatia is relatively safe.Guest review byAlexanderGermany - 10.0
The main coast road between Split and Dubrovnik (route 8)...
The main coast road between Split and Dubrovnik (route 8) runs through Podstrana so it can be quite busy at times. However there are some really nice places to eat such as Hotel Eden and restaurant Arkada, both of which are mid-price range (but expensive if you have wine), but worth a visit at least once. Less expensive local eateries are about, but we were only there for 3 nights and made the most of it. There are several supermarkets along the main road for groceries etc. Most of the "beach" area appears to be pebbly/rocky, although we did not explore very far from our hotel. There is a main bus route through Podstrana which links it with Split centre. Najbolji objekat sa najboljim uslovima.Sve cisto,lijepo i mirise.Apartman na samoj plaži,sve novo u apartmanu. Plaza cista i uredna U sklopu cijene imate bukvalno sve,samo ponesite licne stvari. Domacini su vise nego ljubazni i vode racuna da gostu nista ne nedostaje. Hrana ukusna i veoma dobar i velik izbor. Rado cu se opet vratiti u ovaj objekat koji zaslužuje najvisu ocjenu . I was staying just 2 nights so mainly relaxing. LOcation is good for exploring surroundings. I was hoping to go horse-riding on the mountains,but time was too short. She even shared some fruit salad with us, fresh from the garden. The location is 5 minutes walk to Podstrana beach, and there are several supermarkets nearby. It's a good option if you prefer to be out of the hustle and bustle of Split itself. Getting into Split is only a 15-20 minute drive. A little local supermarket is located right next door made it convenient to get food/water when needed. The host was super nice and responded right away when we had a problem or question. They also had a rooftop which had a beautiful sunrise and the pool which the most comfortable sunbeds. A good location just few meters from the sea and with good beaches at both sides. In addition this hotel has indoor and outdoor heated pools and sauna. The breakfast buffet and the restaurant/pool bar was superb. We also had our car for free in the cool parking cellar. The view from our room and balcony was nicely overlooking the sea, the mountains and the beach area at Split. We will be glad to be back in Eden in the future. You can see the beach from the apartment with the mountains behind. Podstrana beach is just a 20 min walk. The apartment was well furnished and clean.
