Great Opening to Croatia

The only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race, Zagreb sits over 120 metres above sea level and boasts typical Central European architecture: cobbled streets, impressive public buildings and well laid out greenery.

Built around two medieval settlements with the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) being its core, the city skilfully combines modern attractions with well-established favourites. Start your day at the Museum of Contemporary Art, then have a stop at the Zagreb Cathedral or make a wish at the Old Town Gate. The locals say it will be granted!

For a more relaxing time, Zagreb features two lakes - Jarun and Bundek - both offering recreational facilities and hosting festivals and events. After having fun in the sun, you might want to hit the shopping at the colourful markets and small boutiques selling local crystal, ceramics and cravats.

To get a different perspective on the city, climb Medvenica, a mountain over 1000 metres tall overlooking Zagreb, and admire the views while sipping famous Croatian wine. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Medvedgrad fortress.

Zagreb Airport is just 17 km and a short bus ride from the city. Whether you’re looking for an elegant hotel, classic apartment or cosy hostel, Booking.com has about 80 accommodation options for you to choose from!

A small city which is not really as orientated as Split or Dubrovnik and not at other capital cities (a plus in many ways). Many beautiful spots though and very nice people. We took the hop on hop off bus as we only had one full day - really worth it! Also we went on a Sunday and most of the shops were closed - but the museums we chose were open. Cheaper than the other cities we visited with lots of very good restaurants.

A day trip to Samobor from Zagreb was a 55minute bus ride. The historic centre with the war tunnels, the shopping and the restaurants around Kapitol will keep one busy for at least 3 days. Trams around the city are very well connected till late at night.

We spent three days (two nights) in Zagreb which was just enough to enjoy the city and its attractions. However on Sunday everywhere is closed inducing most restaurants, so there is not much to do if you are there on Sunday. Shops open from Monday to Saturday. The public tram system is excellent and easily manageable using the tram map. Food and restaurants are not that expensive and there are enough clothes shops to chose from, the reasonably priced to the high end type.

All the 'sites' were covered in scaffolding and prints of what you should see. Cathedral and funicular was shut. Would leave for 2 or 3 years to visit, the old and new town would be beautiful.

Great old city with lots of history and places to eat. They had an earthquake a few years back that damaged a lot of old buildings especially the cathedral. The hotel is right off the main square. Plus the tram system is very convenient and cheap at 0.53 Euros per ride. Also, had great pizza at Karijola at Vlaska 63 across from the Importanne building. Airport is a Euro 40 and is 25 minutes from the hotel. Ride shares are convenient with either Bolt or Uber.

Unfortunately this was the only place we felt was unwelcoming. Very dirty town and the earthquake damage is still very evident. No way to have a car there. We took day trips to places, as we didn't have a car. Outside of the city is where I would stay. Its beautiful out in the countryside.

We liked the proximity to the airport by car/taxi (reliable to airport for 9 euros) and two minutes walk to bus stop for frequent, cheap bus into Zagreb city centre. Very comfortable, sensible room with plenty of storage and space. Very good breakfast. 3 minute walk to grill restaurant. Free parking. Quiet AC and good sound proofing. Lovely hotel which we would use again without hesitation.

We booked Presidental suite with sauna and We enjoyed this place very much. Money well worth it Better than most of 5 star hotel rooms if some couple wants to have nice place to stay. Free Private Parking was extra extra bonus for who rented a car , given that location is also the best that you wont need to drive at all to explore the city center.

Located just outside the city centre but a ten minute walk or three stops on the tram from right outside the hotel. So ideally situated. Breakfast choice was amazing with eggs offered up freshly cooked any way you wanted. The lady who checked us in was very helpful pointing out main attractions and local transport options.

One of the best hotels in Zagreb. Clean, modern and comfortable rooms. The hotel is close to the city Center. The parking is located in the next mall building, but there is a lift from the parking to the hotel and it is free of charge.

Very very spacious room with a BIG (shared) balcony in a brand new hotel. Comfortable bathroom and enough power plugs to recharge all your things at once. :) Tram stop in front of the hotel is very convenient to reach the city center.
