Great Opening to Croatia

The only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race, Zagreb sits over 394 ft above sea level and has typical Central European architecture of cobblestone streets, impressive public buildings and well laid out landscaped grounds.

Built around two medieval settlements with the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) being its core, the city skilfully combines modern attractions with well-established favorites. Start your day at the Museum of Contemporary Art, then make a stop at the Zagreb Cathedral or make a wish at the Old Town Gate. The locals say it will be granted!

For a more relaxing time, Zagreb has two lakes - Jarun and Bundek - both offering recreational facilities and hosting festivals and events. After having fun in the sun, you might want to hit the shopping at the colorful markets and small boutiques selling local crystal, ceramics and cravats.

To get a different perspective on the city, climb Medvenica, a mountain over 3280 ft tall overlooking Zagreb, and admire the views while sipping famous Croatian wine. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Medvedgrad fortress.

Zagreb Airport is just 11 miles and a short bus ride from the city. Whether you’re looking for an elegant hotel, classic apartment or cozy hostel, Booking.com has about 80 accommodations options for you to choose from!

I always wanted to visit, everybody's opinion on this city...

I always wanted to visit, everybody's opinion on this city was quite low and I expected smth. Nah, it is THAT bad. You can see everything within 2 hours top. It's not quite Balkans, not quite Central Europe, tries to be something but falls flat. And unending renovations and closed pavements everywhere, impossible to enjoy the city. The signature st mark's church is still closed off to the visitors, with ugly containers around it and randomly parked cars of city clerks - you cannot even take decent pictures from afar lol. Avoid this place

Zagreb was very affordable but a bit of a smaller city compared to other places. But it would be a great central spot if you were to travel and explore more of Croatia. LOVED the food. Fish Delish. Yummy.

Transportation is Zagreb is easy and not expensive.

Transportation is Zagreb is easy and not expensive. Most tourist spots is around old & new town, ie walkable. Cafe provides only coffee and without food so hard to find a place for breakfast. Pastries is everywhere but take out only. Museums are many and atypical so eye-opening. Croatian food is mostly delicious and we like it. Parks is huge and lovely for a stroll. Some museums/cathedral are closed (temporarily) so bit of shame.

nice cosy city not much to see but you can enjoy 3-4 days with family. Relatively low prices as in Balkans in general. I would go there again, public transport to airport not to often but at least exists

Zagreb is a wonderful city.

Zagreb is a wonderful city. We've been many times and will continue to do so. Lots of beautiful buildings and great restaurants and cafe culture is wonderful - once you realised you can literally sit for hours watching the world go buy with just one drink. The city is small enough to easily walk about or take the tram/uber for anything a little further. Plenty of day trip options as well.

Loved Zagreb.

Loved Zagreb. Although a lot different to the cities on the coast we found it less crowded with tourists than Split and Dubrovnik. Very easy and fun city to walk around. Wish we had spent more time here.

We booked Presidental suite with sauna and We enjoyed this place very much. Money well worth it Better than most of 5 star hotel rooms if some couple wants to have nice place to stay. Free Private Parking was extra extra bonus for who rented a car , given that location is also the best that you wont need to drive at all to explore the city center.

Hotel is close to train station, 30 min by taxi from airport. Taxi price 35€ to airport, if you order standard, but Uber or Bolt is much cheaper. Room is clean, beds comfortable. Very good breakfast. No mechanical ventilation so you need to open window to get some fresh air.

This hotel is located in a quiet residential area, an easy tram ride away to the city centre. The housekeeping team here were top class as were the guys on reception. I had a very comfortable though small single room. Great value stay for a solo traveller.

One of the best hotels in Zagreb. Clean, modern and comfortable rooms. The hotel is close to the city Center. The parking is located in the next mall building, but there is a lift from the parking to the hotel and it is free of charge.

Absolutely everything. You will regret not staying here if you come to Zagreb. It’s literally a five star service and experience. My fiancee and I said this was the best hotel we stayed in Croatia.
