A small city which is not really as orientated as Split or Dubrovnik and not at other capital cities (a plus in many ways). Many beautiful spots though and very nice people. We took the hop on hop off bus as we only had one full day - really worth it! Also we went on a Sunday and most of the shops were closed - but the museums we chose were open. We spent three days (two nights) in Zagreb which was just enough to enjoy the city and its attractions. However on Sunday everywhere is closed inducing most restaurants, so there is not much to do if you are there on Sunday. Shops open from Monday to Saturday. The public tram system is excellent and easily manageable using the tram map. Great old city with lots of history and places to eat. They had an earthquake a few years back that damaged a lot of old buildings especially the cathedral. The hotel is right off the main square. Plus the tram system is very convenient and cheap at 0.53 Euros per ride. Also, had great pizza at Karijola at Vlaska 63 across from the Importanne building. Unfortunately this was the only place we felt was unwelcoming. Very dirty town and the earthquake damage is still very evident. No way to have a car there.
