With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

I was in Budapest for three days, that's too little days for this city. There are too many historical landmarks. A walk through Budapest itself is a historical tour. A must-see is the Buda Castle. I had no expectations of Budapest but I was absolutely delighted with it! Incredible buildings, architecture, history, restaurants and cafes. It was a great atmosphere and the people were friendly. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather which is always a bonus. One downside is there’s a lot of graffiti and don’t try crossing the road unless you’re on a designated crossing!! Buda Castle, Fisherman's Bastion and Danube were well maintained and nice to visit. City Park was an amazing place with lots to do. Its a nice city and lots of things to do. Transportation is super efficient. Buda is far more cleaner and nicer to view. What I didn't like is the amount of graffiti in undergrounds & recreational areas. In most areas the drainage stench is very noticeable. The Danube river is not clean and often closed by authorities for swimming.
