We had a wonderful stay at the Hidden Valley. The hosts were really helpful with everything and were so nice! The outside areas were really cozy with a refreshing pool facing a nature valley and sunset, and it is filled with different flowers. The place is close to a beautiful temple area, which the hosts arranged a guide and a driver to take us to. The location is also close to the hike leading to Mt. Agung, which they also arranged for us. We definitely recommend staying here and will be back next time we visit Indonesia.

One of the best homestays on our trip! The room is amazing, very clean and comfortable. We got greeted with a welcome drink and the hosts looked very well after us. The breakfast on the rooftop is amazing and very delicious! We felt very much at home here and were sad to leave.

Awesome location with a stunning view of Agung and a great local restaurant down the road. Madé the owner was so helpful with organising a guide for our Agung climb. Pity we didn’t get to sleep much in the beds! Walked all night. But they were super comfy. Note they don’t have food there but can get it ordered in. Wish we’d stayed two nights. I’ll def be back.

This retreat is run by the family of a Hindu priest. It has eight comfortable rooms a communal kitchen and dining space a a large meditation hall with the priest’s own altar. He meets with guests and introduces them to a short prayer ceremony if they are interested. It’s a short walk across the river to Besakeih temples but you have to buy your ticket and walk up from the main entrance the first time. The rainforest, the small farms and the longer walks toward My Agung are wonderful.

We stayed for 2 nights and rented 2 'cabins' and 1 wooden 'tent'. The tent had an outside bathroom and a toilet as did one cabin - the third had an ensuite bathroom, all with hot water. Small kitchen was handy for refilling the Aqua water and making coffee and tea (both provided), and a table with chairs for eating. The accommodation sits within a beautiful garden, clearly a result of the host's passion for flowers, trees and shrubs. A little pond full of koy carp who were keen to nibble our fingers, was a lovely feature. The rooms were comfortable and clean and as it's colder in Besakih than in the south, a fan was sufficient. The location is fantastic for exploring the temple complex. Lots of choice for food nearby and shops with souvenirs. The host was extremely kind, including lending us traditional Balinese blouses and sash. Extremely friendly owner and the family. they were always making sure I have everything and tending to my every need. They also gave me chirimoya which I ate for the first time and it was amazing. they let me have a late checkout (4pm) after I walked the whole night from Mount Agung and went to sleep in the morning. That was just too kind 🙏

    Besakih accommodations have a beautiful location in small village, with amazing views across the valleys. The hike of Mount Agung is challenging in all possible ways and attempting during day time (heat- a big part is without shade) or without a guide in our opinion is dangerous. If travelling to Besakih you might consider having a car or motorbike as there are a lot of dogs on the street that bark and approach you unfriendly. we managed to use the transport from the accommodation. The Besakih Temple is mind blowing, the guide we had was very knowledgeable and very good at his job. Would strongly recommend visiting besakih for a minimum of 3 nights.
