    Fantastic culture, some great places to go in the middle, and North of the Island. I spent a week in Ubud, then a week on the South coast. I could have spent 2 weeks in Ubud, and based most of my travels from there. Beaches in the South are something else, great surf, etc. Things to note which you may not expect. Traffic is mental. Most roads are bad, poorly surfaced, narrow and congested. Most people get around by scooter, which is fine, but be prepared for the fumes if you're doing more than a pop-to-the-shops on one. And the endless 'sell'. I was taking my own picture at a restaurant and was told I would have to pay for it (Rice Terraces) They aren't all like that, don't get me wrong, but they will push it. Fun can be had with haggling, Rule of thumb, offer half their asking price, then work back from there. Be prepared to be followed down the street if you don't buy it. Food is amazing. Try the local dishes, so much better than the same dishes back home. And why would you fly half way round the world to have fish & chips in a different country? And, getting there. Get your visa before going, they have 40-ish automated passport gates, which you can use if you have a digital passport. Use the Gojek App for taxi, or even food and other things whilst you're there (Like Uber).

    We booked Vila Valeria last minute since the hotel we booked did not meet our expectations and we were so glad we changed hotel because we had an amazing time at Vila Valeria! The style of the villa was very modern and neat and the swimming pool was very good. We were lucky to have the pool to ourselves most mornings.

    Quiet location. Close to many cafes. Very peaceful hotel. The bed and sheets were so comfortable it was hard to get out of. Had a lovely view and the pool was great. Amazing hosts who were very helpful. The room was very clean. 10/10 would recommend and I would come back to stay in a heart beat.
