Comfortable beds and hot shower with really good preasure on their basic rooms. They have a restaurant in the building which is very convinient and the family that runs the homestay is really friendly and takes care of you. You can also rent scooters with them for a good price.

We were very grateful for the friendship in accepting us as part of our host ( lidia) family . The villas were excellent in that our view of the sea just outside our villa was stunning, relaxing and very comfortable . Our host is a fantastic cook and we enjoyed traditional Sumba food including locally caught fish . A great place to relax and absorb the local culture

Great location, excellent value for money, with a family-like atmosphere and valuable tips! We initially booked for only one night but ended up extending our stay by 2 nights. If the room hadn't been already booked, we probably would have stayed longer. It's important to note that there aren't many (affordable) accommodations on Sumba, and the island is still quite "rudimentary" in general. However, Lambo Homestay is a fantastic option if you want to visit the beautiful beaches in the south. It's only about a 15-minute scooter ride away, and they also provide great recommendations, such as the best sunset spots and places for horseback riding. The room is stylishly decorated, the beds are comfortable, and the AC is wonderfully quiet. Yes, you can hear the morning prayers at 5 am, but compromises have to be made on this island. The food is delicious and highly recommended! Additionally, I must mention that one of us had a high fever one evening, and we were genuinely cared for and supported in an incredibly warm and compassionate manner!

We were so pleasantly surprised by Sumba Nautil. It is located on a beautiful big property, with winding paths through their manicured gardens leading to each cottage. The gardens are full of flowers and fruit trees. There is a huge dining area, and an amazing large, clear pool all overlooking the ocean. The view is incredible!! Our cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable with a seating area both inside and out, all with ocean views. It felt like a mini home. The included breakfast was delicious and professionally served by such sweet staff. The owner, Mr Ali was very welcoming and kind to us and very helpful. The whole property is very private and so peaceful - we can’t wait to return

    Different place, different experience.

Different place, different experience. Not every place is a big smoke. One need to have an open mind. Waikabubak is for ( for us ) relaxing and enjoying nature. Love the mountains and forests all the way. And The Beautiful Ocean.I love not having TV for 4 days. I just watch the superb waves from our villas verandah at ThreeQueen Villas.

Waikabubak as a town is a non-descript typical provincial Indo town, with little accommodation and only one decent restaurant (great prices, great local food, cold Bintangs at D'SUmba Ate Waikabubak). There are few homestays and poor hotels. There are a couple of interesting Art Shops selling genuine antiques and local artifacts. There is one tourist shop selling local ikats mainly but at vastly inflated prices. The good things are all the traditional villages usually perched on local hilltops, including the touristy Prai Ijing (most of the houses now replaced by traditional LOOKING concrete rumah adats, only 1 year ago most were wooden structures) and then some great real untouristy places (e.g. prairame, kampung tarung). Also good access to waterfalls Lapopu and Matayangu. I wouldnt stay here for the town intself (in fact I would avoid it for that reason), but it is a great jumping off point for nearby attractions.

Go to Kampung Tarung, best ancestral village experience in Indonesia. Way WAY better than Rattenggaro! Authentic, free, no one is pushy about the stuff they sell, and you feel welcomed. Biggest highlight of Waikabubak!
