Bantry has changed over the years not completely for the better. A number of the smaller shops have gone. I miss Hickies, the music shop above all the others. We ate at The Brick Oven. Bantry is an interesting and sweet little gem. I discovered a walk around the town that starts with walking on a path right on the water, goes up a steep road that at top gives a terrifically beautiful view back down the hill of the water and other locales of Bantry area. It made me stop and take in the beauty. We took some salad bar items back to Barry's B+B for a meal or 2. Great variety, tasty breakfast items, at Barry's. Stayed away from the best fish restaurant this time. It is nice to improvise sometimes and save a few bucks, too. The market, fair day (Fridays) has burritos, falafels (Israeli couple) to die for. Bantry was just closing from the tourist season and there were plenty of tourists about. We arrived on a Friday and the local market was in full swing in the town square with an array of food stalls and organic Veg and clothing stalls and more, Food and beverage was affordable and tasty.
