Unique spot, unforgetable house ambiemce, land lady extremely polite, fiendly, hospitable. We wish we had some more days to spend, just to enjoy the place. Thistledown Lodge is truly well located on the South-Eastern coast of Ireland in close proximity to the world's oldest operating & functional lighthouse (Hook Lighthouse) which makes it an ideal location to spend a couple of nights or a week exploring surroundings. The 'Passage East' car ferry service from Waterford cuts down on journey time too and makes for a little sight-seeing trip in itself. Having stayed at many 5-star properties around the world in Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, New York - our room at Thistledown Lodge was furnished to exceptional satisfaction and did not disappoint one bit. We'd upgraded to the bigger room with a bath and shower so we had plenty of space even if we stayed in one of the evenings whilst it rained. Being vegetarian guests with special dietary requirements, we were well taken care of by the hosts with wholemeal toasts, fresh orange juice, potato waffles, vegan sausages, vegan black pudding, baked beans and mushrooms. Everything at this property including their breakfast was served at an exceptional standard and you can see the attention to detail with the amenities on offer like branded cutlery, plating methods, quality of food produce etc.

    It's quite central and a good location to get to other parts of Wexford and Waterford. Pretty location by the sea with good accommodation such as the Marsh Mere Lodge and the Kings Head pub providing a good evening meal. Visiting The Hook and it's famous lighthouse, Booley Bay and other stopping off sites is a very pleasant drive from Arthurstown.

    It was the last B&B we stayed in during our 12-day tour in Ireland. It was looking back afterwards, simply the best. Large and comfortable room, clean and large bathroom. An old house with beautiful things that gave you an insight of it’s history. I loved the terrace in the morning, where you can have a coffee or morning thee with a view on the bay and cliffs of Arthurstown. And, with the best Irish cooked breakfast we had in these 12 days.

    An outstanding Hotel – we so enjoyed our stay here even though we were only there for one day one day and a night. It's a very lovely country house with beautiful furnishings and we love the choice of formal dining with dishes inspired by the chef owner and the Oyster bar which was a little less formal The grounds are also very lovely

    Dinner at the Seafood Bar was delicious.. staff very observant polite and helpful. The shop across from the hotel had beautiful handmade items and the lady working in it was so kind. The location is brilliant and there is so much to do in Dunbrody.
