It's not yet very well developed. It's a narrow spit of land with the sea on one side and the lake on the other. There are some restaurants facing the beach seemingly catering for tourists. Excellent location, right opposite the beach. welcoming owners, nice gardens and pool. Tried sitting on the poolside but too many mosquitoes. Water in shower not warm. Mosquitoes in room as we didn't have a plug in. Breakfast was OK but not organised properly. The restaurant down the road was very good. From the hotel to the beach was .60p which was cheap it’s a far superior beach than the one at fort kochi that beach was dirty and rubbish compared to cherai beach . The beach wasn’t crowded except wkends but it was full of colour from the ladies saris . Beautiful it was . It’s a long beach and lovely warm sea plenty of places to just sit and read or just tan . The locals if you’re friendly just want to have a picture taken with you they are so friendly . I wish I had stayed here instead of fort kochi . Go to lilliput restaurant it’s amazing . Cherai Beach is a great place for a wind down after the massive hassle of obtaining visa and long flight. Food and drink very inexpensive but do not consume alcohol with your meal as it comes in disguise and may cost more than your food bill!! You will struggle to get a good cup of coffee so take your own brand with you. We recommend Waves Restaurant and there is a hotel (the only one) in Cherai Junction. Fab and exciting public bus ride to Vypen from Cherai Junction then 12 rupees (14p) there and back on the ferry over to Fort Cochin....excellent cheap as chips day out. The rooms are incredibly high in quality, with nice furniture, artwork and nice bathroom giving it a luxury feel. The rooms each have a private terrace area overlooking the backwaters. The staff and friendly and helpful and organised a delicious breakfast of traditional kerela staples every morning. Our room had a comfy bed and lovely outside space, with a seaview. The local Kerala breakfast wasn't to our taste so Sajeev kindly made us omlette and toast, with a huge fruit platter.
