Places of interest are Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Market, Shey, Hemis & Thiskey Monasteries, Hunder sand dunes, Turtuk, Pangong Tso, Khardung La & Chang La Pass. 4. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know my way around Leh. There is, pretty much, everything you might need from clothing to medicine, souvenirs, and even oxygen and gas cannisters! The wide cultural variety was always in full view. Don't forget that altitude and illness can affect your appreciation of the region, as I discovered. The rooms are really big and what I loved the most was having my breakfast in their beautiful garden every morning. I planned to stay a few days but ended up staying a month and exploring from there beautiful impressive Ladakh.. Shib became a friend and he took me to beautiful sites of the region as well - we also attended a traditional Tibetian Festival. Gonbo and his family were super friendly, hospitable and helped us out with everything. He knows the area and will help you the best he can even in situations of distress. If you don’t feel like walking too far in the evening, one of his staff members cooks really good food with vegetables out of their garden. Ps. I had experienced a terrible high altitude sickness in the first day of Leh. In the night, my oxygen level dropped drastically, Giri sir had been very kind to take me personally to the hospital and stayed with me the whole time.
