Great stay at hotel Austur. Room was good and linen soft. Breakfast is continental and did surely overcome our expectation. Would have loved to stay another night. High recommendation.

This was a fabulous little place to stay. The room was clean and spacious and the cafe just a short walk away where you had breakfast and could also get dinner as well. A very quaint seaport town. We saw the Aurora that night as well- stunning!

Great location by the sea with their own restaurant in front of the hotel. Very good food. The host was very cheerful. You have free access to the French museum with a tunnel going from the hotel to the restaurant.

The views are breathtaking - the place is a little bit outside of town and if you are lucky without the clouds (we were not) - you have a chance to see Aurora and the stars The house is rather small, but for 1-2 nights it's okay. It also had an oven, though it was not marked in the description.

Elín and Hermann (I hope I remembered and spelled their names correctly) were a fantastic, very kind couple of hosts. Their house is furnished with extreme care in every detail, and for us it is wonderful that it is made with so much wood. They gave us advice and recommendations, including to drive carefully for the upcoming bad weather. We absolutely recommend staying with them if you are in the area.

These holiday homes all offer a private terrace with barbecue facilities, in addition to a well-equipped kitchenette with free coffee and tea. Egilsstadir town centre is a 8-minute drive away.

We saw an amazingly big and lasting Aurora borealis. Great place to catch it. It lasted so long we could hop in the jacuzzi and watch it from there. The house and the area is comfortable and cute Overall an amazing experience, all about this house is 10/10

We were upgraded to one of the brand new apartments and it was fantastic. The apartment had a spacious kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Everything was new and clean and the room was warm. The hostess was lovely and prepared a delicious dinner out of local products from the farm just for us. The farm is located in a beautiful area by the Lagarfljót lake with lots of trees and amazing nature all around. Bigger town Egilsstadir is only 15min away by car. Nelson the cat was always checking on us:) wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Everything was perfect! Lovely host, lovely cottage with all necessities provided, at the foot of a mountain about 15 minutes drive from Egilsstaðir. We originally had booked only one night but then decided to stay for another one because we loved it so much.

A good location for a hassle-free holiday in Hallormsstaður, Mjóanes accommodation is a guest house surrounded by views of the lake.
