Location was great - nice and accessible with easy walk to harbour. We were pleased we had rented a car to get around the island. The island laundry service was excellent - friendly, helpful and good value.

JapanThe host was incredibly kind! When I mentioned that I was interested in the Puffin Patrol, they explained how it works and even lent me a box for the pufflings. When we happened to meet in town during the patrol, they kindly showed me how to spot them as well. The hiking course they recommended for puffin watching was absolutely amazing.
The facilities were very clean, the bed was spacious and comfortable, and the location was very convenient!

MalaysiaI didn’t put high expectation at first honestly, but once i checked in everything’s beyond what i expected.. very clean and comfortable room and i love the spot clean bathroom and kitchen.. the bathroom look just like ikea showroom, it is that perfect.. i will highly recommend this place.. i actually regret my decision for only stayed one night and moved to the capsule hostel nearby which i didn’t enjoyed that much there

Puffin colony is MASSIVE.
Puffin colony is MASSIVE. If you have a car you don't need to buy any trip to go and see them as they are not hard to find. We were also hiking on the old volcano and it looked like we are on Mars. We initially went for the puffins, but were really moved by the story of the volcanic eruption in 1973, and by the way that the community has memorialized and integrated that life changing event. It was a terrific stop. Some people say only go in good weather - I will say that the ferry was choppy on the way there, but the island was gorgeous even in the rain. Beautiful island only a short ferry ride away. Some great walking and the birdlife fantastic. Great to see so many Puffins. The museum was very interesting and well done with audio explanation within the entry price. This was exactly the experience I was looking for in Iceland...
This was exactly the experience I was looking for in Iceland. Most people live together in one portion of the island. This made for a very homey feel. The restaurants weren't touristy. People who live on the island were actually dining in the restaurants. We enjoyed touring the island while watching kids play in the playgrounds and families go about their day. The island is walkable, but we did bring a car for quicker access to some of the sites. The volcano museum was amazing. This was actually my favorite place is Iceland. Vestmannaeyjar is such a great excursion destination, definitely not to be missed. Travelled with a kid. Highlights are: Hike on Heimaklettur. Swimmingpool with best slide in all Iceland. Viking museum is cute and inexpensive. Museum about the volcanic eruption is superb. Great for bird watching - puffins. Favourite restaurant - GOTT. Then it was necessary to arrange transportation by Ferry. If I was asked if it was worth visiting, I would say yes, 100%. The whole location is wonderful.
