Aci Castello (AC) is located a 15 minute drive from central Catania and therefore is out of the fray, as we say. The AC promenade has stunning scenery and south of AC is home to many lidos i.e., beach resorts. AC is close to Catania City Center, Mt. Etna and Taormina, three must-see attractions. Very beautiful quiet place! The sea is clean and beautiful. Nearby is the volcano Etna. In the town there are many cafes and restaurants on the embankment. I recommend renting a canoe and a catamaran, go on an excursion to the volcano. The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing holiday, it is clean and cozy. We were there for 3 days in mid-February.
We were there for 3 days in mid-February. And these were wonderful sunny days in a good place. What struck us most was the fresh fruit every day that grew on the trees - tangerines, oranges, lemons. And these are the most delicious fruits we have ever tasted. Very friendly hosts. The only thing we were not used to was that it was warmer outside than in the house. Locals were rude and often very Arrogant and attempted to overcharge far too many times. They hope you won’t challenge them about it. My advice is , Ask how much before paying and Check your receipts and bills . The town is scruffy and dirty. The vast amounts of discarded Rubbish on the streets is difficult to ignore. The neighbours were friendly too and the area felt very safe especially as it has a gate. Good parking too! It was ten mins from lovely little seaside villages and beaches and there were local bakeries and shops which were lovely. Maria and Alfredo were so friendly, helpful and accommodating during our stay. They were nearby to help at any time.
