If you are looking for an area that is less touched by...
If you are looking for an area that is less touched by tourism but still with plenty of facilities in resort, you can not go wrong. Public transport can take you into Catania (about 40 mins) for historical visit and choice of shopping experiences, but the long flat promenade, excellent restaurants. We dinned mostly at Pellegrino Pizzeria as the stay are so friendly, very good food and very reasonable prices. Walking between AciTrezza and AciCastello is very easy for a change of scenery and there are wide choices of boat trips from the harbour. Catania is only 15-20 minutes drive by car, depending on the traffic. Acitrezza was peacefull and we found the locals very kind, friendly and open hearted people. We dined well at Tratoria da Federico where we had delicious oysters fresh from local waters. The location is great for traveling north and south of the town. The view from the terrace is lovely! We arrived at night and it was a special surprise in the morning. The kitchen is very tiny and we were unable to reheat leftovers due to the lack of a microwave and our inability to use the oven. Acitrezza is a very beautiful village and is special due to the famous rocks called Faraglioni. Is a perfect location for visiting the eastern part of Sicily, There are nice restaurants, with good fish, pasta and pizza and of course very good ice-cream. You can have a nice walk on the promenade near the see and walk to Acicastello to see the Norman Castle. There are lots of places to take a bath from the rocks but also some platforms built over the see, with sunbeds and stairs to get into the water. I had one night only, but was perfect for a last relaxing day and night after a week exploring the island and before flying back home.
