Castelrotto/Kasteruth is a delightful town set in beautiful surroundings and is we thought just the right size. Large enough to have two supermarkets , a number of choices for restaurants/Cafes , a Pharmacy , a number of clothes shopping opportunities but small enough that we never felt over crowded. It is delightful to see young children laughing their way off to school early morning. And there is a Gelato shop! There is a brand new lift that goes up to several delightful mountain walks at 1,500 metres , as I recall, and a restaurant and play area for children at the top.Guest review bySteveW57Australia - 10.0

Location was excellent as could walk into town in 5 mins. Location was super quiet, parking undercover in the garage. Everything needed for self catering, well equipped kitchen, very spacious bedroom and lounge dining, Host was Doris and was very responsive to a few questions. I will definitely stay again next time I am in the area. Breakfast not supplied as was ABNB format and was self catering. Will stay again and recommend to anyone. Having to order food by 8 pm each evening was not very helpful especially if I had been out late in the afternoon. There were one or two restaurants open till later ( taking orders) but I did not know about them till too late. I didn’t find the restaurants particularly good in fact. But they were not as expensive as I expected either. The Eurospar store was amazing. It was very well stocked indeed and was very useful. My hotel in Castelrotto was excellent. To be able to use the buses free of charge was very welcome and the bus drivers were all very helpful too. Castelrotto is very well located for walks and trips to Seiser Alm and St Ulrich for the Secede cable cars. The scenery and walks up on the Alms were amazing. Great location for hiking.
Great location for hiking. We took the bus over to Seis am Schlern. the buses are free with the tourist tickets. From there we got the cable car up to the Alpe de Suisi which is a beautiful alpine meadow, where it very safe to hike and there are lots of facilities for hikers of all abilities including families. We also hiked from Castelrotto over to Seis am Schlern which is another beautiful hike. Some of the nicest scenery I have ever seen.Guest review byCarolineIreland - 10.0
Absolutely beautiful part of the world.
Absolutely beautiful part of the world. Many, many hiking and trail biking opportunities. Castelrotto had everything we needed for our week stay. Buses can take you pretty much anywhere you want to go in the area.Guest review bySusanUnited States - 10.0
We stayed three nights, which was a good start.
We stayed three nights, which was a good start. Good food, easy access to groceries, and ability to navigate the entire town on foot were welcomed. Kastelruth/Castelrotto has a great location to nearby trails and the gorgeous Seiser Alm. It was nice to have two days to go to the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi----the first day was wildly foggy and we couldn't see much at all. The second day was absolutely amazing-----choosing to stay longer than overnight was a wise decision. I can see how one could stay in the area for a week or two. Museums (for Ötzi in Bolzano, the Messners), a trip to Lake Braies, multiple hikes/biking trips could keep you busy---not to mention the winter sports area all terrific options while staying in this wonderful town.Guest review byJaneUnited States

The food was really good, I booked half board package, and that also included afternoon snack free of charge. The location was good, it allowed me to move around the area with local buses and it was for free as I got my weekly bus ticket at the hotel. The hotel Staff was really nice and helpful.
