The hotel is housed in a Beautiful Palazzo. Access is on the port side, from within the historic portico that runs along that area. Wide marble staircases inside and pillars, high ceilings. Rooms are large and have views of the port. Overhead rain shower, with decent pressure and lots of hot water. Rooms facing the port are quiet despite the vehicle traffic. Staff were polite, respectful and responsive. Breakfast was in a nice room off the check in area, with very high ceilings. Buffet of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt. A la carte menu of several types of omelettes and eggs, bacon, toast, caprices salad, pancakes/waffles.

FAQs about hotels in Genoa

Ship Shape and Fancy Free

Right on the Ligurian coast, Genoa features Europe’s largest historic quarter and Italy’s largest seaport. As the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, its heart and soul is the port, site of the Naval Museum and the ship-shaped Aquarium.

By the old port (Porto Antico), there are several bars and restaurants serving the local specialty, pesto. Other Genoese favorites are focaccia and fresh fish from its Mediterranean shores. Don’t miss the homemade gelato ice cream along the seafront promenade, Corso Italia. East of here is the tranquil Boccadasse neighborhood, where colorful boats bob up and down.

The best city views are from Villetta di Negro, a raised, shady park with a waterfall. Below is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Via Garibaldi, home to the ornately decorated Palazzo dei Rolli.

South is the historic quarter with its black-and-white cathedral and Piazza de Ferrari, featuring a large fountain and historic buildings including the Doge’s Palace. The surrounding area is a maze of narrow, cobbled streets flying the Genoa flag, supposedly where the English took theirs from. Each features bars, restaurants and unique shops, while fancy boutiques are on Via XX Settembre.

As you approach Genova Airport, look out for the fortresses on the lush hills forming the backbone of the "Superb City." Booking.com has a range of Genoa accommodations, from hotels to apartments and B&Bs.

I did not visit just Genova but the whole part of Rivera del Levante until Monterosso including Camogli, Rapallo and Portofino. Really nice Ligurian places. In Genova I was around 2 days which was just enough for this time. I would like to revisit Genova together with other Ligurian towns in the future.

Genoa is a charming city with something for everyone.

Genoa is a charming city with something for everyone. It has a splendid port full of some amazing boats and ships. The aquarium was well worth the visit, beiing able to see the sea life at such a close distance and it seemed to go on and on with so much to enjoy - I particularly loved how the dolphins were trying to play and intereact with the people. There is so much beautiful architecture with churches, museums and castles, some buildings dating back to medieval times. There are plenty of caffes and restaraunts and shops. There speciality dishes were the many types of forcacia breads and their special pasta dish with 'troffie' pasta and pesto sauces with potato and green beans, the basil seems to grow in abundance there so the foods were freshly cooked. For beach lovers, there are also some good beaches, although for us, we spent our time exploring the city with its castles and churches and just taking in the amuance of this exciting city.

Genoa is a bit of a weird city, where you can change the vibe in 20 meters. From ancient palaces, to small no-so-nice streets, to large poshy street, to traditional place to eat and share with local people. It actually takes some times to get used to it, but it is definitely lovely and lively.

    Genova is an interesting city.

Genova is an interesting city. Now, you can find lots of info on the internet, so I will not repeat. What I find interesting about Genova is the upper parts of it (up hill) and those areas outside the Old Town and the port - those two are nice but classic touristy places. I would like to go back to the city for a longer time, to have time to explore those "real city" areas.

Nice city, with beautiful architecture and many historical buildings. The city has many levels, so, one has to climb some stairs every now and then. Perhaps, visiting it in autumn would be better as August was too hot. It's definitely worth visiting also some other nearby towns at the Ligurian coast (e.g. Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, Camogli, etc.)

    A beautiful, impressive city.

A beautiful, impressive city. For €2, you can take a bus to any beach on the Ligurian coast. Eastern Genoa is well-kept, as is the old town, but unfortunately the western part is not. Frozen seafood from China for 12 euros?!? But the focaccia is fresh, the pastries and ice cream are very good. There are many new immigrants who accost you intrusively.

A special thank you to the owner, who was incredibly helpful, responsive, and kind throughout the stay. The location in the city center was great! Also the atmosphere of the room and building (the building is over 600 years old!) was amazing- it felt like a little boutique hotel. The breakfast with a view on the piazza was outstanding. The breakfast consisted of some musli & yogurt, a large fruit platter, a sandwich and a tart, as well as coffee, juice and water. The host was very friendly and gave great advice, as well as organized a taxi for us!

Great location close to the sea front & a short walk to the old town. Air con here was the best of our Italy tour. Modern decor & quiet at night so slept well. Was good to have a fridge for cool drinks. Clean & comfortable. Dining table & sofa available too. Washing machine is great. Take your own washing powder though.
