Giarre and neighbouring Riposto are unspoilt small towns with few tourists. We were the only foreigners wherever we ate. La Tavernetta was our favourite. The seafood market in Riposto was a perfect source for the meals we cooked in our suite. Driving in Sicily is fun as long as you copy the locals. It's a small town by the sea...
It's a small town by the sea... It's not very "touristy" but it's a perfect base to visit Taormina, the etna, Catania. Overall I would say it's more convenient then charming! Giarre is not a great tourist attraction.
Giarre is not a great tourist attraction. However it is a great center for touring East Sicily. We found it very strange that Sicilians keep to their siesta even in winter. After sunset when it got very dark and a bit cold, we did not feel like going to a restaurant (they open at 6 or 7). So we cooked our dinners. Good for us, bad for them.Guest review byCsabaHungary

It was spacious, comfortable, very clean and was ideal for 1 or 2 people, it even included a washing machine which was great because I stayed for 20 days. The hosts Jessica and Marco were friendly, lovely to chat to, helpful and nothing was too much of a bother. Breakfast is hearty and very enjoyable in the backyard. The parking lot is large and comfortable. Rooms are big. Never be afraid to ask questions.
