La Spezia is one of those typical cities of the Liguria Region where colourful houses cover hills and cliffs, providing panoramic views over the sea. Thousands of years of history and a heart open towards the sea have shaped the character of this town surrounded by the 'Cinque Terre'.
Located on the coast of the namesake gulf, its proximity to Genoa has greatly influenced its development and culture. Take a walk uphill from the harbour, and admire the display of architectonic styles in the Old Town. You will be able to have lunch in some restaurant where there are many dishes with seafood. And be sure to try the local excellent draft beer. Also be sure to go on walks between the villages, they are usually no longer than 2.5 kilometers, but this is Above the cliff above the sea.
