It's close to Merano (which is much better known and visited), and also fairly touristy, but with the businesses aimed more at cultured tourists rather than mass tourism (not sure if there were any chain hotels there), interested in arts and finer dining. We were staying in Bolzano and going to a concert in nearby Lana (one of many for the season) that finished too late to catch the train back - so we stayed at Hilpold. It was a great decision. We have came to the place in the evening - soaked on motorbikes after passing Austria- Italy mountain boarder. The owner was very very nice, helped us with organizing something to eat and providing with his self made wines and apple juices! Apartment was big and with beautifull view!
