This trip was only a week, but I have stayed here twice...
This trip was only a week, but I have stayed here twice before for 3-4 weeks each time. I don't rent a car (but that is a good option). Instead, I use the local buses. The bus to Chuisi is frequent, and from Chuisi you can catch the train to Firenze, Rome, or elsewhere. There are lots of Etruscan museums in the area.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town.
Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town. It has wonderful views over the countryside (and to other towns) as well as excellent restaurants, shops, and local wine cellars (in caves under the town). The local wine is excellent! It is walkable with very little traffic allowed, but also has quite a hill within it, so be prepared to walk up and down hill if you visit! It also is a good place to stay and to travel to other picturesque towns nearby, such as Piensa (truly lovely) or Montalcino (also famous for its own wine). Being a hilltop town, the train does not stop right in Montepulciano. We stopped at nearby Chiusi-chianciano train station, where we could rent a car just across the street.Guest review byJohn

Offering to help carry bags from car 100 meters away, offering to carry upstairs. Staff gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants, and offered support wherever they could. The town of Montepulciano is very beautiful with goreous views all around, and this hotel has one of the best locations and staff in the town.
