A very nice town, I particularly like the climate, not hot,...
A very nice town, I particularly like the climate, not hot, humid but not too humid. Many options to walk, eat etc. Very close to Aetna and Catania. I do have to want though that Italians in Sicily (don't know about the rest of Italy) are complete Gypsies! They will try to take your money using any trick they can think of! They make you pay for parking (e.g. in Palermo) and for toilets! When you sit in a restaurant or café, they charge you for the service - and if you just take away, they charge you again! In the airport with Ryanair, they made us pay 46 euro to carry the same suitcase we have been carrying in Ryanair from any other destination for free, including the flight to reach Sicily! Ancient Greek spots are too expensive - more than 10 euros each, more expensive than the Acropolis! To visit Aetna's peak with a guide needs 120 euros per person, plus another 55 if you want to see some extra landforms! So be prepared to experience the worst driving behaviour, illegal driving and road network conditions I've seen in all countries I've been to so far! Full of useless roundabouts, signs don't exist in English anywhere, and the network is too confusing for a first timer, even if he is Italian.Guest review byΕυάγγελοςGreece - 10.0

Great location for watching the eruptions! The town is pretty, with plenty of eating and drinking options, and an easy journey to Catania, Syracusa, Etna and various beaches. Parking is difficult, and the roads are v narrow, so think about a small car.Guest review bySandraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Nicolosi is a great little town on base of mountains Etna. It has some great restaurants and a cool bar on the town square. But it is difficult to get a taxi and the walking is on busy streets. Anyone staying in Nicolosi for a holiday needs their own...
Anyone staying in Nicolosi for a holiday needs their own transport. Sicily is not like Malta and doesn't have a good public bus service, sadly. Also you need to be a very confident driver if you are considering hiring a car there. It's every man/woman for himself. The only other way to get around is by booking tours, which do seem to be plentiful. Plenty of good places in Nicolosi to eat and well stocked supermarkets. My only criticism really is the amount or rubbish left on the road sides, which seems such a shame for such a beautiful civilised place and is something that local councils really need to address.Guest review byCrowcircleUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very scenic and a quaint village. You will need own transportation to be more free to go where you want. They have rosticcierie for lunch and food is lovely. For pizza, particularly if you have intolerances, order from Punto ICS - excellent and does delivery. We also ate at La Baita di Rosemary, prices are affordable and they have a varied menu but isn't ideal for food intolerances, though they do oblige for food for children.Guest review byKirsten

The facilities are modern and of high quality. The room we stayed in was immaculate and the bed very comfortable - we got a good night’s sleep. The hotel is close to the town, and there is a lovely authentic Sicilian restaurant nearby. You can walk up to Monti Rossi from the hotel in about 30 minutes. It is sandwiched in between two huge lava fields which are gradually being taken over by nature - animals, trees and wild flowers. This is the most fascinating place we have stayed in Sicily and we wish we had been able to stay longer. Our host lives locally and was very helpful.
