The main piazza in Piacenza is striking, and staff in the Tourist office there are helpful. The streets contain a wide range of historical architecture and are pleasant to wander round. The city has three Fine Art Galleries, but each has just one good/great painting (Antonello da Messina, Botticelli, Klimt); when I was there, the supposed Contemporary Gallery was filled with the work of a 19th Century artist. The Cathedral is majestic, and has successfully resisted the bacillus of Baroque, to which so many historic churches in Italy succumbed. Beware of staying in an "HOTEL" calling itself Il Moulino Relais The description in Booking com is definately wrong. It's not an hotel by all means. Its a villa. we stayed there a horrible night and ran away the next morning We were alone without any staff at a open and deserted villa who describes itself as an top Hotel. Except missing chairs in the room (no one chair at all), and no electrical receptaples ( where to connect your computer?? no chance),. forgot to mention that wi-fi signal there is only in the ground floor but very weak or no signal at first floor, Also, looks like new practice, almost all hotels have no reception service, you never see the owner, only key collecting by means of code/pin but very often the owners not sending in time mentioned pin/code, I know it is something new, modern, but that is all together a big bulsh..t, hotel owners are going to loose clients I'm sure and I'm not sorry about them....Guest review byTomislavCroatia - 10.0

Piacenza is the kind of town I love to visit: an under the radar gem that has some lovely architecture, some interesting museums, great food, and very friendly locals who are really happy you came to visit. Very few tourists, and most of them were Italian! It is comfortably walkable, on the Milan to Rimini line that goes right across Emilia-Romagna, and I'd say it's well worth a day-and-a-half visit. Another lovely town quite close by with the same kind of vibe (though its a bit more famous because of Antonio Stradivari, a centuries-long tradition of violin making, and the violin museum there) is Cremona.Guest review bySmithUnited States

It’s located right across from the hospital, with a convenient bus stop just outside the building entrance. I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary welcome kit: a breakfast box, slippers, and toilet kit. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the city center. I appreciated the design on the walls.
