Everything, it was clean, the bed was really comfortable with clean bedding every day. It was close to all the restaurants and right opposite one of the ruins entrances. There was a large choice for breakfast. Had an evening meal which was tasty and value for money and coffee in the lemon garden was an oasis of calm.

Been on my bucket list since studying Classical Studies at school. It did not disappoint. Steeped in history and you get a real feel for the terror those people experienced when Vesuvius erupted. I climbed to the crater so peaceful now hard to believe it caused such destruction. Seeing the House of the Faun made my day at Pompeii. Herculaneum was as impressive but smaller and easy to navigate. Pompeii is huge and it was hot with no shade this makes getting around in the crowds a little more challenging.

Since childhood, I was fascinated with Pompei. The ruins would take a couple of days to completely absorb as the ruins are much larger than imagined from photos. The vistas were incredible. Every facet of the exploration brought new life to what was once a truly vibrant city.

I visited Pompeii in early October and whilst busy, I was reliably informed that it’s quiet compared to peak summer months. Definitely worth visiting and I’d recommend a guide if you can. So much to see and you should allow a good 3hrs+ to see the whole site. There’s a lot of walking to do and if you’re unsteady on your feet, that will limit some of the things you can see at the site. I’d also strongly recommend you take water with you. It’s hot work even in October. I also visited Herculaneum, which is much smaller but is in many ways, a better preserved site. You’ll see the second floor on many buildings. That said, you get a real feel for how big Pompeii was back in the day. Which is better? Pompeii for me based upon the sheer scale, variety of buildings and the wonder you get of how well developed the Romans were back in 79AD. I’d also say that the surroundings outside of the UNESCO World Heritage site are a whole lot better than Herculaneum.

Lovely town with great resturants and the Archaeological...

Lovely town with great resturants and the Archaeological site of Pompeii , plus 3 train stations which allowed travel to Herculaneum, Sorrento, Naples and Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. A great central location. We used the beaches at Vico Esquerence as they were a lot cleaner that those at Castlemmare Di Stabi, but we did food shopping at Lidl there and the shopping Center in Pompeii was a treat.

Download the App for the Pompeii site, with map, info and audio guides; so very easy for DIY tourists. The buses to Mt Vesuvius a little bit confused. Fare varies but not by a significant amount. Stops not clear but Pompei is a small city and so manageable as a DIY trip.

Pompei archeological park was amazing.

Pompei archeological park was amazing. I was unprepared for the sheer scale of the city. I think you need a minimum of 2 days to really explore the ruins alone. Modern Pompei I did not like. It is noisy and there is nothing pleasant at all.

Location is perfect for visiting Pompeii archaeological site and is five minutes from the Piazzo Anfiteatro entrance on one of the main streets of Pompeii town. Great hotel and we very much enjoyed our two night stay; clean comfortable room and delicious breakfast. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and it was very good and excellent value and my pizza was one of the best I have ever had. The lemon garden was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or dinner. All the staff were very kind and helpful.

The location was perfect. We avoided the congestion in Naples and with the help of the rented car, I ticked off all the attractions, including the Amalfi Coast. The place is great, equipped with what is needed. The breakfast is specific to Italy, but I supplemented it with some shopping. Secure parking space.

It was in the quiet area, we had enough space for ourselves. Parking was nearby and this is a big plus in this part of the Italy. Host is very pleasent to deal with and helpful. Pompei city center and also archeological site are within walking distance. There are enough heating devices for winter period.
