Porto Ercole is a wonderful hidden gem on Monte Argentario. It is a small town with lots of great restaurants and activities. We had a wonderful snorkeling day trip, drove to Porto Santo Stefano for a day at the beach, and enjoyed the ambiance and liveliness of the town. I did wish that we had more knowledge of how to book the beach umbrellas and chairs at the various beaches ahead of time, as we were there in August and the shade was a must! I would have liked to have had more time to do some hiking in other areas of Monte Argentario, that would be most logical to do in the cooler weather. We visited Isoletta Beach, which requires a bit of a walk after parking, but it’s absolutely beautiful! We rented chairs and an umbrella—though pricey, the facilities were excellent, with clean restrooms and a convenient food truck. We also spent time at the rooftop bar Scirocco, just past the hairpin turn. The valet parking was a much-appreciated touch. The views, service, drinks, and aperitifs were all outstanding. Unfortunately, the power was out in town, so most places were closed, but we did manage to visit Bar Porto, which is right on the water. Also visited Feniglia beach on our way out of town, gorgeous, sandy and spacious. Get to the beaches early in the day to find parking! Beautiful Port on monte argentario one of the exclusive upmarket vacation destinations for an upmarket clientele with their yachts and villas on the hillside. Monte argentario has stunning views looking out towards the islands of giglio and giannutri. Car quoted to explore monte argentario and visit its many beaches. Perfect place fir diving snorkeling and enjoying Tuscan food and nature. The monte is dotted with cypress and e olive trees. We liked the marina in Porto Ercole but found it had a limited selection of restaurants - fine for our 3 night stay. Parking included - the final part of the road to reach the apartment is steep and narrow, we were ok in our hired Fiat Panda! Good air-con and fridge in the room, plus shutters and fly screens - ideal in hot weather. Small kitchen area with pan to heat water, cups, plates, microwave, toastie maker etc. Coffee maker only in the room. Close to the best bar and close to the beach with excellent water for swimming, sand, rocks and pines. I think this location is much better than living down in the port, because who lives in the port has to get to this beach longer. Also, it almost never gets hot inside the appartment because the house is on a narrow street where the sun almost never gets, so even in the hottest days we didnt even have to turn on the AC.Guest review byНикитаItaly

Because we were so late our host put us in touch with his father, who could not have been kinder. We were unable to navigate after our ordeal so he came to meet us, get us parked, and then took us to our room. It is right along the "main drag" in Porto Ercole and was the perfect place for us to chill out and regroup so that we could continue our journey.
