The Jewel of the Amalfi Coast
Positano is a colourful Italian town in the Campania region, near Naples. Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, this seaside paradise is home to traditional terracotta houses on a steep hill and a small marina with fishing boats.
Set on the Amalfi Coast, between the Lattari Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the holiday resort of Positano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ancient Roman architecture. Featuring white, pink and yellow houses, this place will amaze you with its pebble beaches and narrow streets with little steps.
Built in 1920, the old church of Santa Maria Assunta with the imposing dome is one of the main landmarks of the city. According to the legend, sailors brought the Byzantine icon of the Madonna after their ship got stopped in Positano and heard a voice saying ‘stop, stop, stop’.
The village of Montepertuso is a place 1000 metres above the sea level, with a stunning rock.Travellers can also take the ferry to Capri and Ischia.

I loved Positano, the people, the vibe, the culture and the beauty. I highly recommend going and staying in the heart of it all. I always felt safe and comfortable. I always walked at night and never had an issue. There's lots to see and do. I took in a sunset cruise, such an incredible way to see the coastline. The food is amazing, always fresh ingredients. Positano was fantastic.
Positano was fantastic. We enjoyed great restaurants and shopping. The incredible views will stay in my mind for the rest of my life. We had easy access to boats heading to Capri, which is a “must add” trip you should fit in to your plans. The beach’s are loaded with stone and you must have water shoes to get into the water. We were always at ease with the relaxing vibe that surrounded us. My wife and I will strongly recommend Positano to anyone thinking of heading that way. It is truly magical. We enjoyed our stay in Positano very much. I would suggest not staying there in August. This summer was very hot and combined with so many tourists, it was overwhelming at times. Picturesque town, but realize that unless staying right in town center, sooner or later you will have to face lot of steps up /downhill. Taxi drivers have colluded to charge exorbitant flat fees for even the shortest drive. Great views, scenery and nature. A bit tiring due to the stairs. Your hotel's location is important, mine was very well located. Not far from the beaches but still with a very nice view.
