If you want to see old city where history meets modern life, you are in the right city. The points are really really crowded so it is good to reserve times in advance. But the city and its historical parts are just amazing. You have to see the Colosseum, Forum Romanum and city of Vatican. Some places (piazza Navonna, fountain Di Trevi, Spain stairs) is better to visit early morning as in the afternoon/in the evening it is just crowd ...

We did not have enough time in Rome to see a whole lot , but did enjoy the Colosseum (except for it being so crowded) and Palatine Hill area in Rome. We tried to do a hop-on/hop-off bus tour of the city, but spent a good amount of time stuck in traffic. Rome really wasn't the main focus of our time in Italy, but it does seem to be a pretty amazing place.

Rome has never been on the top of my 'must visit' list...

Rome has never been on the top of my 'must visit' list because I always assumed it would be too busy, full of tourists and too hot. However, I found myself there because of an event, and it seems that October is a much better time to visit! Sure, there was still tourists, but not as many as the summer months. The weather is very pleasant and hot at times - we were averaging about 20 degrees celsius. It's easy to get around, public transport is available but everywhere is within walking distance in the city centre and you stumble upon more little points of interest by walking anyway. As it was our first visit, we did the typical sites. The Trevi Fountain was not my favourite (even though it was beautiful to see), because it was like a mosh pit of people all shuffling around and getting in the way of each other. You have to queue to get anywhere near the fountain itself, but you can see it just fine from on the higher steps. The Spanish Steps was more of the same and we didn't hang around there either. The Colosseum was much better. We visited around 4pm and the sun was beautiful, and the tourist amount was small. We didn't go inside, just took photos outside on the hill across the road - it was an enjoyable experience. Similarly, the Mouth of Truth was also brilliant, with a little organised queue that took around 10-15 minutes before getting to the front. The shops in Rome are okay, but we're not into shopping. They're the same shops as everywhere else, but much bigger. If you leave the main streets, there's littler shops specialising in more gift related items that are more unique to Rome. Can highly recommend L'Antico Forno, a cafe right on the Trevi Fountain, which you'd think would be expensive, but only cost 9 euro for two sandwiches! And they were the best sandwiches we ate the whole trip.

What I liked were the very friendly people, delicious food, monuments, art and architecture. What bothered me was: crowds, lots of stairs and a lack of facilities for baby stroller/ pram (high thresholds, no ramps).

Quiet, traditional hotel close to the colosseum, great staff, amazing breakfast, Francesca is amazing in proving help and replying to all questions. I am a frequent visitor to Rome for many years (twice a year), and usually stay at Trastevere or Campo dei Fiori, this time for new years I decided to stay at Lancelot, also because I am a travel designer specialist in Italy, and I am always testing new hotels for my clients. Lancelot will be in my list of hotels.

The location was phenomenal. It was quiet, safe, and a stone throw from every main Rome attraction + the best food. We were shocked on how centrally located the property was AND how quiet it was. I traveled around Italy for 6 weeks with a friend and this was our favorite spot to stay! It is small but its all you need and very nicely decorated and new and cozy. the AC was the best and also new :)!! The hosts were so friendly and kind.

The hotel experience was excellent overall. Amazing staff, very friendly. The location was ideal. The room was superb. Very clean, spacious and brand new furniture. I loved it so much that I will always come back when in Rome. I do consider this the best hotel I’ve stayed in Italy, and overall excellent value for money too. Thank you so much TB Place Roma, it was great to stay with you and looking forward to the next time.

this is my first time go to rome eventhough I stayed in Italy for a one year. The location is very very good, it close to a lot of visiting palecs, you can go anywhere by foot. the staff were also very kind. By the way, the price is very cheap, I don't know why, actually I choose the hotel because of the cheap price, but when I arrived, it was over my expectation.
