Overall our stay at the Villa was amazing. It was in a perfect town outside of Florence which was perfect for us who don't love being in a busy city all the time. The view outside the property was beautiful and I definitely want to come back in the summer to utilize the pool!

The views, the attention to detail and most of all the staff. Our concierge, Filipino, made sure we felt so valued the entire trip. We had a fabulous bottle of wine and a kind note in our room when we arrived. He always made sure we had dinner recommendations and reservations, and he helped us plan our daily excursions. He provided so much valuable advice to us, and really made us feel so warmly welcomed. Our breakfast hostess and housekeeper, Debra, was also amazing. We had such a delicious and customized breakfast each morning, complete with espresso eggs to order and wonderful pastries. She also made us feel so valued as guests. There was another employee that was also extremely gracious, I did not get her name, but she greeted us with espresso and provided us with T-shirts since our luggage was lost. It was nice to have something to sleep in!

Definitely the most amazing place we ever booked. Charming castle in the heart of Tuscany, close to everything we wanted to visit (35min away from Florence), but far from the noise of the crowded cities (1.3km of uphill road to the castle from the main road, a total delight for the eyes). Quiet mornings and evenings at the castle completely recharged our batteries. The rooms are huge, very clean and elegant, the moment you enter the door you get transported to another era. Every morning we opened the windows to see the hot air balloons flying over Tuscany, right before we went to the delicious breakfast served in “La cantina di Machiavelli”. We had free parking, great breakfast, lovely and very helpful staff always there to help us and a huge castle domain to walk and admire every day. The small lizards, friendly cats and the trees loaded with fruits where just the bonus :) 10 min drive from the castle you can find supermarkets & restaurants. We would definitely book again and we left with our hearts broken that we couldn’t stay more.

    San Casciano is remote in the beautiful Tuscan Hills, although just 40 minutes slow drive to Florence The hotel is 7 minutes outside the town, so walking is difficult. Need a car to go anywhere. Taxis are not available. This hotel is pretty good, but the much-acclaimed restaurant is, at best, just above average and pricey. Claims to be "special" but isn't! Terrace dining is romantic but watch the wasps in the daytime and mosquitos in the evening. Swmming pool fairly small and crowded. Grounds are pristine and lots of lovely bougainvillea. Reception staff smile a lot. Huge carpark!

    We were there with a family of 11 including grandparents.

    We were there with a family of 11 including grandparents. There’s no lift so if you’re not able to walk the stairs anymore you shouldn’t choose the house we rented. Other than that the house was like a museum with beautiful antique furniture which we loved. There is no airconditioning yet.

    Peaceful, with beautiful Vistas.

    Peaceful, with beautiful Vistas. The Staff was outstanding with smiles and open arms for any assistance we needed. Cooking class was fun, learning many new things none of us had known with our delightful chef who was patient and knowledgeable. Dinner at the restaurant was full of wonderful foods. The perfect place to explore wineries and take it down a few notches to relax and unwind.

    I would imagine that, like me, most people go there to visit...

    I would imagine that, like me, most people go there to visit the famous Antinori wine estate, one of the most spectacular & lavish wine estates for visitors in Europe, and one of the few that are comparable with what you would find in California, South Africa or South America. There's not a great deal else here that I am aware of - it's basically a few small villages. Good location for visiting other neighbouring parts of Chianti though. And, as noted in my review elsewhere of the Albergo Bargino, its attached fish restaurant, the Trattoria del Pesce, is worth a visit in itself.
