The valley offers tons of hikes. My 2 kids loved modern cablelines connecting the valley to the hills of Speikboden and Klausberg. Up-there, you'll find tons of family activities (playgrounds, bobsled track and huge slides. The Val Aurina/Ahrntal is possibly a well kept secret in the SüdTirol/Alto Adige region of Italy. The view on the Zillertal Alps is magnificent. The Holiday card one gets in exchange for the local taxes works splendidly with free transporation on local buses (amazing network!) and even on the trains from Bruneck.
