The town is being revived and restored. So I appreciated the historic aspect and efforts being made to bring in tourists. The road to the town was in great shape. With that said, there is really nothing to do there. We arrived on a night, I believe it was a Wednesday when all the restaurants but 2 were closed. The better restaurant was completely booked and we had to go with the only other choice open for our large group. The food was terrible and overpriced. Nothing else was open in town for even a drink!! There are many other places to go and see in Abruzzo, this would not be one of them. We expected luxury in a uniquely rustic environment and we weren’t disappointed. The view from our room window was stunning as was the view from the restaurant terrace. Candle light created a warm atmosphere. But the highlight was the quality of the service. A positive culture which was contagious amongst the guests. Thanks to all. We ate at ala Locanda each night and were very happy with the diversity and quality of the menu. We hiked to Rocca Calascio, drove to the observatory and walked, had lunch at the refuge on Campo Imperatore where we BBQed our meat bought from the refuge. The fact that our accomodation was located just in its heart was a nice surprise at the beginning and over time became a huge benefit as evenings on the terrace looking in the scenical centuries-old alleys with mountains on the background are amazing. Due to the old thick walls the temperature inside the house is nice and cool while it's hot outside. Even though we didn't get to meet our host, they were very friendly and gave us all the information we needed during our stay. They also provided a baby cot when we asked for it.
