The palace is highly impressive, historical and beautiful, but very well maintained and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They even offered to help arrange a wine tasting tour in the region. We ordered breakfast for the stay. Both the food and in room dining experiences were very nice. Everything is just perfect.

Loved our stay in this hotel. It is a quaint place with only few rooms. Although not equipped with a lift, the host offered to help with luggages herself and if I am not mistaken there is also a room on ground floor which you can request rather than missing out on this hotel. The owner helped us with parking to be able to be close enough to park our cars and walk. It was a 5 minute walk to street parking as inside the city one cannot enter without a permit. Also close to the centre (Torre del Mangia etc) which is only 7 mins away on foot. Room was lovely and extremely clean! Loved it and wished we could spend more nights here. Definitely recommend!

FAQs about hotels in Siena

Romantic Renaissance

Located among undulating meadows and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!

Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic centre. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.

The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodation deals on Booking.com!

The history of art is brilliant and the architecture impressive. The duomo is beautiful and incredible. The terrain is very hard work with uneven paving and very hilly. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or older people.

    It's a beautiful city.

It's a beautiful city. Quite confusing to find your way around. Do not get the train, though. You have a bus replacement at Empoli. I'm fluing back from Pisa and taking the bus to Florence, then the train to Pisa. If you're using Trainline beware of delays which then mess up the rest of the journey. Itabus from Lyon is really comfortable but we were delayed and had to book new connections from Turin. Make sure you have at least two hours leeway

Siena is an absolute gem, with a lovely sense of community and friendly people. There is so much to see and admire, but the Duomo (and especially the new Porta del Cielo) is the star attraction. But avoid Palio time if you don't like crowds!

Loved walking around and shopping. Saw beautiful places and buildings. Didn’t realise that transport on a Sunday so limited so unable to visit neighbouring towns but spent a lovely time relaxing at a huge park. Quite a walk as on opposite side of town but lovely. Sorry can’t remember the name. Lots of fruit trees and vegetable gardens.

Siena, Italy, is nothing short of magical, a city where...

Siena, Italy, is nothing short of magical, a city where history, culture, and beauty converge in the most enchanting way. From the moment you set foot in the heart of the city, you’re transported back in time, surrounded by medieval architecture and narrow, cobblestone streets that wind through centuries of rich heritage. The centerpiece, of course, is the Piazza del Campo, an awe-inspiring square that’s known for its unique shell-like shape. It’s the site of the famous Palio di Siena, a thrilling horse race that encapsulates the city’s spirited tradition. Siena’s charm lies not only in its stunning buildings but also in its vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re sipping coffee at a quaint café or exploring the Duomo di Siena, the city's iconic cathedral, you’ll find that every corner offers a new delight. The Duomo is a masterpiece, with intricate frescoes and stunning marble floors, making it one of the most impressive Gothic cathedrals in Italy. Beyond the architecture, Siena offers exceptional food and wine. The Tuscan cuisine is fresh, hearty, and full of flavor, with local specialties like pici pasta and panforte (a traditional fruitcake) that make every meal a celebration. Pair that with a glass of Chianti, and you’ll feel like you’ve discovered the true taste of Italy. What’s truly special about Siena, however, is the warmth of the people. Locals greet you with a genuine smile and are always happy to share a piece of their culture. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience, Siena is the perfect destination, blending history, beauty, and hospitality into an unforgettable journey.

A true gem in the Tuscan countryside - our favourite stay of our whole trip by far. The location and views of Siena were absolutely stunning, the pool area (complete with pool bar) was fantastic and the extra amenities (tennis, pétanque and pool table) were a fun addition. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast offering was one of the best we have ever experienced in a hotel and the staff incredibly friendly. Dinner at the property also highly recommended. We will certainly be back!

Finding good but reasonably priced accomodation in Siena is very hard, especially around Palio time, so we were very pleased with this find. The apartment is clean, quiet, spacious, well equipped, and includes a good balcony and free parking. Best of all, it is only a few meters from the walled city's entrance (you just have to cross the road and you are "in") and the fact that it isn't inside the walls guarantees a good night sleep. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Access is very simple.
