Casa Olea is an amazing option if you are visiting Lake Como - 10 min by car from Menaggio, it was the perfect base to visit the area without staying inside the confusion of the small famous villages. The hotel itself is spetacular, the refurbishment was done very tastefully and the whole hotel is beautiful. The room was very comfortable and had an amazing view to the lake. The shower was for sure one of the best showers I have ever used in my life, and the amenities by Comfort Zone provided a nice touch. The breakfast was excellent and everyone working there was very nice and welcoming. If you are visiting this area, book this place!

Very nice and cosy hotel located by the lake shore! The view is just breathtaking and all the rooms have a lake view! Fantastic and very big balcony, very nice people at reception desk. Trully a place where we wish to come back ASAP!

The staff of the hotel is just incredibly friendly and helpful! They do everything in their power so that guests would feel comfortable and welcomed. Really "family attitude". The cleaning was very fast and not disturbing - our room was cleaned while we were having our breakfast. Good food at the breakfast, nice variety of products and tasty coffee. The location of the hotel is just great. The boat stop is just outside the hotel. Good restaurants nearby. And a good beach 5 mins by foot. Also the hotel gives beach towels. Recommend!

    Out of the way enough to feel local but supported by the...

    Out of the way enough to feel local but supported by the very good, La Trave restaurant. However, you really have to drive to go anywhere else. Suited us as we used as a base to explore through the week we spent there. Varenna and Bellagio on first day by ferry out of Menaggio (once we could find parking). Then Milan city centre for a day. Alfa Romeo (Arese,Milan) and MV Augusta (Varese) museums both in a day that ended up in Lugano in Switzerland at a lovely little city beach. Another day to see Maggiore (partcularily Stresa) that again ended in Switzerland at the Locarno Film Festival. Roads are very tight right up that side of Como. Remember this when choosing a hire car. There's an adventure park close by but we didn't visit as probably suited to younger kids.
