Clean accommodation and tidy area around the pool. Breakfast was good but not if you are a late bird. If something was missing, it would normally not be replaced. But there were still sufficient amount of food left anyway!!! Coffee was great 👍. Great stay in general and would recommend to anyone for sure!!!

As a 33-year-old woman traveling alone, I was looking for a place that felt both safe and inspiring – and I couldn’t have chosen better than Palazzo Vigilarium – Boutique Rooms – Rooftop & Arts Hotel. The spacious design rooms with their high ceilings and breathtaking views were truly a dream. Breakfast was healthy, fresh, and delicious, and the homemade dishes were outstanding. On the rooftop terrace, I enjoyed a magical view along with aperitivo and bruschetta prepared with Nonna’s homemade bread – a truly authentic touch. What made my stay truly unforgettable, however, was the extraordinary service. The two brothers who run this family hotel pour their hearts and passion into everything they do. They shared personal travel tips, helped me with reservations, and were even there to welcome me when I arrived very late at night, kindly carrying my luggage all the way to the car upon departure. Thank you so much for this exceptional time – it was truly perfect, and I would return without hesitation.

Giosahouse in Uggiano was a great choice. Carolina, the host was so lovely. such a friendly and helpful person. She was there with her daughter to receive us. They also welcomed us with sweet local pastries and water in the fridge. The apartment itself was very clean and had all the amenities. There was clothes drying rack which came very handy when drying our beach towels. The Aircon worked well in the apartment. There was warm water for shower and the bathroom itself was quiet spacious. There was a tv in the room and a spacious closet to put our things in. Carolina also immediately brought us clothes iron when i enquired for one. Carolina and her daughter greeted us at the location and showed us around. Giosahouse has a fantastic rooftop view looking out to the church. We loved spending the cool nights in the rooftop mesmerising at the stars. The neighbourhood is quiet and clean and felt very safe. Carolina was always ready to help and stayed in touch throughout our stay through WhatsApp. The breakfast cafe was few minutes walk from the apartment and the cafe was really nice. They had many pastries on offer and of course good coffee. Even if we decided to rent a car in the last minute, Carolina arranged a parking space right next to the apartment immediately.

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of...

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of Scotland - beautiful, friendly and accommodating locals, lovely places to eat and very little public transport! However, taxis are available and the locals are happy to phone on your behalf to help you book one. There was a car rally the day of the wedding too which was exciting to see. 10/10 would recommend visiting the restaurant Matisse. The head waiter Alfriedo is a lovely, incredibly helpful and friendly man who will make you feel very welcome and happily translate the Italian menu for you. The more family-oriented restaurant Skafè is also worth a visit - especially for the metre-long pizza! Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena is easily one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. I was delighted to sing in it for my friend's wedding. I think Uggiano la Chiesa is a good base to have if you are able to travel to surrounding areas as it's mostly quiet and non-touristy.

    The owners were welcoming and kind. They gave us lots of info and suggestions on what to do or where to go to the seaside. The continental breakfast was good with healthy selections and delicious handmade cakes. Despite the fact that the room wasn't esthetically appealing, it was spacious and clean, the 2 double beds were comfortable, and we had all we needed. Uggiano la Chiesa is a quiet and small village, about 8km from Otranto. You can easily park the car just outside the gate of the house.

    Understated, family, friendly, location, pool, food, room (10). This is a 3 star but should be a 4 star. It is so comfortable and the hosts and staff are exceptional. We stayed in a mixture of 3/4 star hotels on our trip and this was definitely the best value for money and the one we will remember. We would happily have paid more for this hotel. Great location too. Book this hotel - you will not be disappointed.

    Very warm and sincere hosts – we truly felt that they cared about us. The breakfast was amazing and even more than that – the hosts were happy to prepare things that weren’t even on the menu. Simply wonderful! We didn't speak Italian, and the hosts spoke only a little English, but we still managed to communicate perfectly well! Recomend 100%. Will come back here for sure! Best place in Salento for sure!

    The property was very nice, quiet and idyllic. The rooms were very big. The staff was very helpful and friendly and gave us the best recommendations for sights and beaches. Also we had the opportunity to join a tour to the ancient underground oil mills of the hotel and an oil tasting, which was very informative and very well organized.
