This was a stop on our way to Venice. It was a great introduction to the area. We stayed at the Varrena house for three nights. The location was perfect. We could walk to everywhere. We enjoyed the beautiful sunset and villas nearby. We party view of the lake was very beautiful. This unit has two bedrooms which are clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive and helpful. They helped us get a car service to pick us up and drop us off at Milan with very reasonable pricing. We requested for extra soap and laundry detergent and toilet paper. Extremely beautiful village very clean, even in middle of July, it did not feel overcrowded, easy walk to all attractions, Villa Monastero gardens is a must. Enjoyed, 4hrs in Billagio for sightseeing and shopping although very crowded. Side trip via bus to the gorge in Bellano was a highlight. Varenna was extremely safe, beautiful and not too crowded the last week of July. Everything that you needed from groceries, fruit, baked goods, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all withing steps of each other. If you are looking for a "shopping" experience, this town is not for you, but if you are looking for a low key, relaxing, and beautiful place on Lake Como, Varenna is for you.Guest review byAnonymous
