The places I needed and wanted to go to were all within -20 minutes from each other. The area is nice and walkable, some family marts and Lawsons on the way if you need to stop for a quick snack or need to pick something last minute. Chatan is an ideal location for people visiting family...
Chatan is an ideal location for people visiting family members in the military. It's very close to most of the bases, and has a wide selection of hotels. There is public transportation, but It's very walkable (in most areas). We felt very safe walking around. The America Village there has lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Since my wife is pregnant, we assume they assigned the room nearby elevator. I have stayed in many hotel for business trip in Japan but Okinawa Hilton is the best hotel. All of employees were kind and nice. Room is very clean and neat. Nice view and Breakfast was okay. There is no reason to hesitate to stay in this hotel.
