I only stayed the one night at El Campo because I was just passing through. My stand alone cabin was spacious, with futon upstairs and kitchenette, bathroom, dining space downstairs. There was a small incident re damage to my rental car by another guest which required police involvement for insurance purposes. I was very thankful that the manager noticed what was happening and came and assisted. He very kindly spoke to the rental agency and the police on my behalf. Which I found very relieving because the language barrier can be really challenging especially in stressful situations. Thank you very much!

The cottages are quite basic, but nice old Japanese style and the view from the terrace is amazing. The host also arranged me a brand new electric mountain bike which worked very well for me to see the area around, such as Aso volcano and Takachiho gorge. The WiFi worked like a charm. Definitely recommend!

It is very nice getting to stay in a traditional Japanese home. The place is very cozy and you can see how Hide-san and Leek-san put a lot of effort into making the place homey and comfortable. I am very thankful for their hospitality, they introduced me to scenic spots near the place. Their cats are lovely housemates too.

Our stay at this incredible Japanese house was nothing short of a dream. This beautifully renovated traditional home, built by the owner's ancestors probably 150 years ago and renovated thoughtfully and lovingly by the owner recently. It offers lovely gardens and breathtaking views of Mount Aso and is meticulously maintained to the highest standards. Each room exudes the charm and character of a traditional Japanese palace, while also providing all modern amenities.The onsen is an indulgent treat, and the professional kitchen, sound and home cinema systems, barbecue house, and karaoke house added to the exceptional experience. We opted for the barbecue on two of our three nights, and the food was world-class, prepared with love and care by the owner, his wife, and the property manager.We felt like we were in a dream and wished we could have stayed much longer.
