Really liked downshifting from Tokyo and spending 2 nights in Kanazawa--a third might have even been right. The gardens, architecture, restaurants. Would definitely recommend to anyone who asked where to stop during a Japan vacation.

Having spent 10 days in Tokyo I was thrilled to arrive in Kanazawa (via bullet train) and notice straight away how it was "quiet"...less people on the streets, less humid (nice relief) and overall the city operated at a slower pace - a nice reprieve. Also, a great city to walk around - all of the tourist attractions, I think, are within a few miles so no need for buses / taxi's etc. I would highly recommend for a 2 day visit - not sure if more is required to hit the main tourist sites.

Kanazawa is a good antidote to Tokyo and other major cities.

Kanazawa is a good antidote to Tokyo and other major cities. It is small and easily walkable with numerous museums and art galleries, the fabulous Kenrokuen Garden, the geisha and samurai districts, individual shops and restaurants and vibrant fish and fruit market. Out hotel was stylish, carefully designed and modern in a wholly Japanese way which was comforting and easy on the eye. Kanazawa is easy to reach from Tokyo by the Shinkansen and very safe to walk around at night. People were warm and welcoming and there is an excellent Information office in the centre of the town. There are also excursions outside into the countryside where you get to see another facet of Japanese life.

Small, but perfectly formed.Fantastic boutique hotel in a brilliant location. We booked a superior family room, although there was just the two of us, knowing from previous trips to Japan that space is at a premium and for longer stays a bit more space makes a big difference. The breakfast, traditional Japanese style was one of the best we’ve ever had, simple delicious and beautifully presented. Last but not least the staff, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. They made our stay a memorable one.

Plenty of historic buildings and areas within the city. A great assortment of dining options. Including in and around Omicho Market. Well placed to explore the surrounding area (I chose to walk and use public transport, a hire car would have given even more options). A relaxed city. If you like running/jogging there are good options, especially riverside paths and a great parkrun at Saigawa Ryokuchi Koen.

Kanazawa is a worthy location, however I expected it to be more visually interesting than it was. It is often compared as a "smaller" version of Kyoto. It may indeed be smaller, but Kyoto is far more diverse and beautiful.

Location of hotel is amazing, the station is nearby. The staff was super nice and English was not a problem. Room was huge and had all the things you need, what was strange that they didn't offer pyjamas which is normal to have in each hotel which I visited in Japan. Breakfast was fabulous I had to order it as extra though it was worth it it had Japanese, western kitchens everything that you need. You can find a lot of food places near by. I will book this hotel again if I will come back to Kanazawa.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 night and it was the best price/quality offer during our 2 weeks travel in Japan. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped. The hotel is well situated: 2 min by foot from Omicho market, 10 min from Kanazawa Castle Park, 15 min from Higashi Chaya District, 12 min from Nagamachi (samurai) district. Definitely this hotel deserves the highest recommendation.

The hotel was close both to Omicho Market and Kanazawa Station. The building itself it's pretty charming and the room was pretty big for japanese standards. Also, it's a true 4 stars hotel, providing the amenities you would expect from that level (and even more). Last but not least, the staff: every person working there made us feel welcomed and pampered, even beyond the (high) japanese standards.

This was the best hotel we have stayed in during our Japan vacation. We generally do budget hotels and this was a great find. Great restaurants close by and staff were very accommodating and helpful. Location was excellent for getting around Kanazawa. Good sized room with space for our bags.

Everything was good. The best hotel during my stay in Japan: international food, clean and big room, English speaking staff. I recommend it if you come to Kanazawa.
