The location is amazing. Close to main shrine as well as small town. Room was clean, food was absolutely amazing and filling. There is a possibility to reserve a private bath (for free) that reinvigorates you. The stay and the atmosphere is really unique with authentic temple lodging. Would 100% come back

We had an amazing two nights at Habanobo. Ken and his family made us feel so welcome and learning about Buddhism from Ken was very interesting. Minobu is a beautiful and peaceful area and Ken gave us some excellent tips on walks in the area. The temple is very well kept, and our room was very large with lovely views. The breakfast and dinner was excellent and very carefully prepared and presented. Would love to go back one day!

As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

An amazing location with amazing views. There is a games room where you can relax from a day of exploring the Mt Fuji area!! The staff were very friendly and very accommodating. A special thank you to the woman that looked after the games room as she was great as a conversation partner and told me about many things to see in the area!!

This was one of the best stops during our travels in Japan. We got picked up at the Fujinomiya train station by our hosts. We enjoyed riding the e-Bikes that we could rent from our host, as this allowed us to visit the local restaurants (we had a wonderful time with the locals at the お好み焼 和 Okonomiyaki restaurant) and the Kunugi Fish Farm, where we could fish with the family. Our host Hana was fantastic, she even arranged a drop-off at Fujinomiya train station outside of the regular drop-off trip, which is 10:30 am, so we could spend the morning in this fantastic rural area.

Due to an error in Google Maps' vehicle information, we found out there were no cars available to return to the hotel. We faced a 3-hour walk from Asama Shrine to Shiraito Park, mostly uphill with barely any streetlights. Just when we were on the verge of breaking down and feeling helpless, the host kindly drove to pick us up and brought us back to the hotel. Without her help, we would’ve had to walk the entire way 😭😭😭. On top of that, the hotel’s environment is fantastic—stepping out the door, you’re greeted by a lovely garden, and just a few steps away is the stunning Shiraito Waterfall. It’s absolutely worth the long journey!

+ great location with Mt. Fuji view + whole building only for your needs + local feeling + great host We were very lucky to choose this accommodation! The host was extremely kind, showing us a large building with a spacious floor, hammocks to relax in, and a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji (weather permitting). He also prepared a cozy BBQ area with lights and treated us to delicious homemade takoyaki cooked over the fire. A truly great experience! Don’t expect luxury, but you’ll find a warm, local atmosphere in beautiful surroundings.
