For a two day trip to Noboribetsu, we enjoyed the hiking, scenery, and shopping near our hotel. The natural hot springs there are also quite unique - semi translucent in appearance. We really enjoyed soaking in it.

Restaurants outside hotels are limited, so opt in for meals at hotel if possible. The hikes were wonderful. 2 hour hike and you can see it all. Go early to avoid the visitor crush. Only need one day to enjoy the hot springs and get a hike in of Noboribetsu. Glad we made the trip!

Definitely book a traditional Japanese room with floor futons. Much more comfy than the modern beds. Garden view is lovely. Onsen is one of the best I’ve experienced. So many options. Incredible staff. Breakfast was delicious!

Definitely recommended to have a car.

Definitely recommended to have a car. Explore Noboribetsu Onsen, Hell Valley. Day or Half-Day trips to Lake Kuttara, Lake Toya (and Toyako Onsen) are highly recommended. Spend a day trip driving to Hell Valley, and then to Muroran. 2-3 days is sufficient. If travelling by bus or train, make sure to get the schedule beforehand. While Noboribetsu is walkable, the other areas might not be so convenient without a car.

Onsen was fantastic at Noboribetsu Manseikaku. The Bear park is well worth the trip. The view from the mountain is spectacular. Being winter unfortunately some of the walking tracks were closed. Very nice little own, the main thing is to onsen!

All staff members were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The staff at the front desk who completed the check-in for us could also converse in English and ensured we understood the hotel offerings and the surrounding attractions. The facilities were clean and the food was also superb. We also enjoyed the private onsen experience! There was very little to fault with Ryotei Hanayura, and we would happily return to this hotel again!

The option to book a private onsen was a good option to have for those who aren't comfortable with the possibility of running into others in the nude. Room was nice and really comfortable. Most of the staff were really helpful and friendly though their English was at times a bit limited. Size of the ryokan was good and not like the massive onsen hotels around the area.

Lovely location in the thermal area of Noboribetsu Onsen, close to bus station. Spacious, comfortable newly renovated room with our own onsen bath with view into trees. Very comfortable bed. Buffet style dining had many options and was enjoyed. We appreciated the Yuyu liner bus service which we used to travel from Sapporo to the Grand Hotel made the journey convenient.

The onsen was really good, hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. The lady who attended to us speaks very limited English, but she tried her best to explain everything to us patiently. Hotel is located in the middle of this little osen town, it was a nice walk around the town at night, after dinner.

Rooms are clean and simple. Guests could use room key card to the onsen pools in the big hotel across the road, which is really really amazing!!
