Superb accommodation in beautifully designed new hotel/ryokan. I stayed in the mixed dormitory. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Very quiet at night even when full. Short walk from the train station and to the wharf for bike rental. Restaurants and supermarket two minutes walk away. Cho and Shane are marvellous hosts, and we are now good friends. Easy to make friends with fellow travellers in the shared dining area, and designer style lounge. I loved my 7 day stay at Lemonsea, and in Onomichi. I would have stayed longer.

We stayed just one night but left feeling completely relaxed and recharged before starting our bike tour over the Shimanami Kaido. The property is stunning, with breathtaking views from our room — and even more spectacular ones from the rooftop bar. Just wow! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We also loved the cozy coffee shop, the relaxing thermal baths, and the super comfortable beds. A perfect stopover — highly recommended!

The town itself is nice but not too special. Plenty of good places to eat and many shops, but the main attraction is the startof the Shimanami Kaido bike route of course, it is gorgeous and highly recommended!

Onomichi is a picturesque and walkable city with lots of charm. You can stroll the vintage shotegai, visit the art museum, enjoy a snack at Onomichi U2, take a temple walk, ride the ropeway, and of course, biking the Shimanami Kaido. The people are friendly and the food and shopping are great.

Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from...

Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from Imabari, I was left with little time or energy to explore Onomichi. However, I did do some of the temple tour in the morning and it was excellent. I recommend taking the "ropeway" (I'd call it a cable car) to the hilltop and work your way down. I'd love to come back and explore more of this interesting little town.

If your visiting Onomichi for bike riding , it has everything you need . It’s also has great walks , shopping ,places to eat and the walk along the waterfront and boardwalk is wonderful. Enjoy a meal or a drink . Catch the ferry to the islands and explore on foot or bike.

Onomichi was a quiet town with lots of small alleys to explore. One full day should be enough to get a taste of the location for younger travelers. But two days at the town should also be good if you would like to take your time or if there are elderly in the group.

Such a beautiful little town with really friendly residents who genuinely welcome and enjoy travellers. Lots to do in the day, a bit quite at night though so don’t rely on there being restaurants open for dinner. I loved Onomichi. I only spent one day and one night there before beginning the Shimanami Kaido cycle, but I wish I’d stayed and relaxed a bit more is this wonderful town. The temple walk was worth the views, cat alley was unique and worth seeing, I loved just grabbing a coffee or pastry and sitting on the pier to enjoy the view.

We were riding the Shimanami Kaido and needed somewhere convenient to stay, little did we know that we had stumbled on a design enclave unlike anything we have seen in Japan before. The hotel is great, lots of space for bikes. They also have tools and racks for your bikes. The hotel is about 300m from the station and there are lots of eateries in the immediate proximity (U2 Onomichi) and in the wider town. Hotel also has wind trainers set up and rents out bikes. You can also get your bikes from the Giant Store which is in the same building.

Very good location not far from station and bicycle hire. It is almost possible to walk undercover to hotel along arcade from station. Late check out, bags can be stored before check in. Large space in Sea view room. Cheaper than most places in Onomichi ( certainly those close to station ).

The room was beautiful and the architecture was stunning. The staff were lovely and really helpful. The Onsen in their sister hotel was amazing and perfect after a long day’s cycle! The restaurant in the hotel was incredible and some of the best food we’ve eaten in Japan!

The owner Hanamoto-san is a really great and friendly guy. I felt really welcome. The view over Onomichi was extraordinary. The traditional Japanese breakfast was really tasty!
