If you can cook in Malindi, please cook. Chefs are also too expensive but if you are up for it, great. The customer service in Malindi is questionable, some restaurants even packing sub food as your take away. Also, the locals especially tour guides try to rip you off compared to other coastal towns, its quite annoying. Malindi town is typical of Kenya with a market, supermarket, lots of traders and as a tourist you are well served. Cool laid back town. Action is on the beach. Local foods like fish, calamari, prawns easily gotten-mostly in the evening. Its a 'crime' not to use a motor bike(boda boda) to tour the town on foot! Annoying whistles and hoots from the riders- just avoid eye contact! Malindi town is easy to walk around. Coffee lovers have a huge choice- kahawa tungu( peppered with cinnamon&ginger powder)- on the bench at every turn of road -or- in Italian themed coffee joints by the beach and main streets. Easy town to move around. Not that many pedestrian walkways. From my last visit(2023) there is an upgrade though. Need for more coffee places. The beach areas could be more cleaner. For coffee and lovely delicious snacks,go to Malaika restaurant opposite the Buntwani Beach Front. Walking is the healthiest way to move around Malindi,just don't give a visual contact with the boda boda taxis( you will ride unwillingly!) I visited the following places: Galana Shopping Centre Vasco da Gama Pillar Portuguese Chapel Malindi Marine National Park. I occasionally ate out from a wide range of restaurants in the city centre. The greenery well kept garden was very nice. The staff were so welcoming and not forgetting Mr Peter,the host who was very helpful,he sorted all our queries with immediate effect. The interesting part is that the apartments are located inside Ocean Beach Resort,which is a 5 star hotel on Malindi. We accessed the restaurant which offered very delicious meals. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby attractions, such as the falconry camp, the Malindi museum, and the Vasco da Gama pillar. It is even more beautiful in person.The modernized touches of the home were beautiful. The blue complimenting the vibe of the white paint, the staff who help us with everything we needed and the price point being affordable. Green walkways with the breathtaking coastal summer feel in the air. Walking to the beach during sunset was the highlight of my stay. Great location, convenient for me to take the unforgettable boat excursion in Malindi Marine park to the beautiful Sardinia island. The whole stay felt like a dream. Definitely coming back!
