You can forget about Sihanoukville if you're into fancy colonial French architecture. Such an ugly jumble of buildings I don't think I have ever seen. But - it's the people that count and they seem OK. The indoor market is there if you need something. There's loads of banks and ATMs. I went to the beach and stayed approximately 1 minute since I saw complete lack of infrastructure for sunseekers. I stayed at the Don Bosco Hotel School which has a swimming pool in its large compound. There's a bunch of unfinished construction in the form of building shells but the strand seems completely free of obstruction.
Most people visit Sihanoukville as a stop of point before visiting the Koh Rohg Islands, it’s a different experience as the city is filled with half built hotels, tower blocks ! Apparently the Chinese investor was putting a lot of money into the place for offices and casinos around online gambling but when the Cambodian government made it illigal in 2019, the building work just stopped - so it’s got like this apocalyptic feel about the place - worth a short stay
The Sihanoukville I remember no longer exists .it's now a resort city catering for Chinese tourists, hardly any English signage anywhere. The cities roads seemed to have improved. But a lot of buildings left on hold now half finished properly due to the Covid slowdown. Seems like Macau in the tropics
The whole city is a construction site, many abandoned, crowded buildings. Much of it is more China Town than Sihanoukville, full of chaotically located skyscraper casinos. The authentic one has been lost and that is a minus. The beach would be beautiful if it were cared for. It is degradation and abandonment, very high prices at European level. You don't really have anything to do in the city for more than a day.
Even the Cambodians refer to this city as a Chinese colony. Many of the restaurants have menus only in Chinese. The casinos (of which there are well over 100) do not admit native Cambodians. The tuktuks often don't even offer fares to non-Chinese foreigners. Sihanoukville is the place you go to get a boat to Koh Rong and other offshore islands. Don't plan to stay.
Sihanoukville is a stopping point for many travelers to get to and from the islands - that's all you should do here! If you can, travel on the same day, if you need to stay, don't expect too much. There are a lot of casinos and hotels, but they seem to be focused on other Asian tourists. If you want authentic Italian food go to Pappa Pippos in Otres Beach.
We stayed at the hotel from 12 to 19 November. Nice hotel, every day the room was cleaned, the hotel has excellent restaurants with very tasty food. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. As a compliment we were given a free transfer from the airport to the hotel, met at the airport in a luxury car. Wi-Fi works properly without any problems. Special thanks to Somros Ken, who organised our trip to Koh Rong Island and airport transfer to Phnom Penh.
Sihanoukville
Nestled in the heart of Sihanoukville, this hotel offers an unforgettable stay. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality by the incredible staff. Their kindness made me feel instantly at home. The attention to detail throughout the hotel was impeccable, and the amenities exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to return to this oasis of charm. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable experience.
Nothing. Booked hotel for 3 Nights . Check in to the Room . TV. Not working !? I asked to change the room with TV ? Answer was all TV not working ! Is a joke ??? They advised as 5 star ⭐ hotel ? But I cannot give more that 3 star ! Looks like nobody was taking care of Hotel since Pandemic ? Disappointed and forced to book another Hotel for 3 Nights! Didnt stay even 1 day up there . So not recommending this place honestly 👆😎
The room and bathroom was lovely and quite clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel is older, but well kept, no pool so families with kids maybe better elsewhere. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to any travellers as great valve for money and the staff are very very helpful. I will definitely be booking this hotel next time I go to Sihanoukville.
Rooms were big and the pool was a nice bonus on a hot day. It's location across the road from Otres Beach was excellent and it was far enough away from Sihanoukville to avoid the big city traffic, congestion & noise. Breakfast was good and the cook made us some excellent meals when we ordered lunch & dinner.
Sihanoukville
Amazing resort located 200 m from beautiful otres beach. The resort is surrounded by a gorgeous garden and refreshing swimming pool. Room is a beautiful traditional khmer style with all modern equipments. Staff was really helpful and restaurant propose yummy food. Peaceful location. Unique place in Sihanoukville.
Excellent hotel, very clean and spacious, has wonderful facilities: pool, steam sauna, bar etc. The staff are extraordinarily helpful and accommodating, they helped us with several enquiries. Beautiful, modern room that has everything you need. If you like to stay at the hotel, it's a great choice.
Onederz are a good hostel/hotel Cambodian chain - they offer good clean, modern accommodation and a good variety of western options for food - definitely aimed at the more affluent budget travelers, but you do get what you pay for !!
Luxury hotel, Chinese style, attached to a casino. Very modern and clean. Customers are mostly Chinese. Very well located close to Serendipity road and Ouchheuteal beach. Not cheap but aligned with 5 stars standard. Gorgeous breakfast.
The hotel has a great location up on a very green hill. There is an interesting access to the beach and the beach pool.
